This is my first Mabination guide :scare:
Rank 1 defense = 15 base defense / 10 defense if elf
Golem Master title = 10 defense
'Defensive''Sweet' cylinder = 9 defense
'rigid''Colenel' Dragon shield 3/2 upgraded = 12 defense 4 prot defense(this may vary on shield's stats)
royal alchemist robe = 6 defense and 4 prot
'Burgundy Bear'2/2 Val gauntlets = 3 defense and 3 prot
'Burgundy Bear'Spaika Plate boots = 3 defense and 2 prot
two +2 protection accs's = 4 prot
Blue = all races
Red = human/giant only
you may also enchant the items
get r9+ life drain and use Burgundy Bear enchant on the boots and gauntlets
Burgundy Bear enchant = 1defense and 1 prot(if windblast ever gets uncapped qq)
Taurus enchant = 3 protection and 1 defense
if your rich or just plane lucky.. put 'Taurus' on both of your 2+prot accs's
'Taurus' +2prot acce + 'Taurus' +2prot acce = 5prot and 1 def on each acce = 10prot and 2 def total
keep in mind to use 'waterdrop' and 'hot' enchants for damage
sidenote: i don't hate elfs, there just limited to defense that humans and giants have... but you can always get r6 mana shield with 300int(int is very easy to get but the golem master title will take 30int away....)
you also may replace the golem master title with barrier spikes master(if you care more about protection)
and yea... point to this guide. to make alchemist take hits in Adv/Hardmode dungons/shadow missions :T_T:
why should alchemists have high def/prot you ask?
- you know those times in shadow missions when you lag or something and your hp is almost half way down right? or when you get multi arrgo'd by more then two monsters
and alchemists can use def/prot/hp enchants w/o worrying about there damage that much
and hp is is a importent part of being a tanker
so rank/max-out combat mastery, first aid, Life drain, defense, rest, sharp mind and wind-gaurd(giants only)
using 'Healer' and 'dark-cross' items are good too!
enchants,
'Burgundy Bear' is semi-rare its on cylinders from shadow missions and the enchnat scroll drops from... Burgundy bears.. lol
'defensive' well.. you just need the cylinder with this encvhant on it
'Sweet' pickaxe from the Red dragon in the shadow realm(int)
'Rigit' comes from hot-string monkeys from giving them food on there Liked food list
'Colonel' ehh.. its abit tricky but its worth it it drops from sulfur golems
'Healer' enchant is very easy to get, counter gauntlets from rafting
'Dark-Cross' enchant can be hard to get..(for peaca normal Or g11 peaca dungon)
good luck and i hope you like this guide!

You claim that elves is limited to defense, but all the things you listed except gloves/boots can be used by elves as well.
If you really want defense, having a huge mana pool combined with r6 mana shield, and whatever defense/protection. Hiding behind Barrier Spikes and using golem is good enough anyways without all that equipments.

Yeah I dont see much of a guide here. Just some enchants thrown together that you thought would be a build. If you wanna expand this to show what to do to be a tank and how to play defensivley and what you should rank be my guest. Right now this needs some expanding.

right off the bat you picked a bad set up. master of spikes> golem
also the stone enchant for armor also the beholders shield is trash, its like pvp use only. a kite has more passive def and if your an alchemist you might as well try for a comp shield.
You have a lot to learn still about alchemy.

I aggree, and anyways, Alchemist's are not to be defensive in that way, they are not supposed to get hit, thats why theres barrier spikes and wind blast and Heat Buster to seperate yourselves from the enemy. This guide isnt good. Sorry.

Agreed, Alchemist weren't suppose to be defensive in the first place.
This guide could have potential if you were to put more detail into it,
Explanations such as the major pros and cons for defensive alchemy.
All you did was list a bunch of enchants and titles. >_>

He said this was his first attempt at a guide guys, go easy. Also having lots of defense is always nice. Tropa I would like to see some things added to your guide:
First the psychology behind needing the defense as a alchemist (why def alchemist is better than say a Glass Cannon type build).
Second, leveling methods for an alchemist.
Third, party play strats for an alchemist.
Fourth, solo play strats
5th How to build a strong alchemist, think of starting gear/skills and then move that onto endgame gear/skills. (think of jahrakals melee guide and apply alchemy skills to those concepts).
Basically explain what your think is good. Then give some defending statements that makes it superior to other builds. Acknowledge its potential weaknesses, and explain its strengths.
Also the nice thing about mabination is you can go back and edit your guide to make it more complete. Then send notes to the people who critized your guide and ask them to re-read and edit thier posts to make the guide section better.
I know that you area good alchemist and very passionate about your main skill type. Keep up the hard work.

An offensive alchemy guide would be nice! Especially for enchants and things like that. So far, I have rank 1 flame burst and rank 4 CC and I want to use flame burst in replacement of windmill because it has a lot of potential, but the CC rate is so low that I'm not sure anymore. Plus it only does 40-50 damage non-crit on hardmode SM monsters with 1 charge...o_O (using royal alchemist title/boots/clothing and a stiff fire cylinder with no upgrades)
