I'm technically a defensive alchemist as a back up (I melee as a front.) Its honestly not a bad build. I've tested using burgandy bear as a defensive means but I honestly didn't think it was worth it.

Now that I think about it you could put Muscular on a cylinder if its consider to be iron made. If not then Lifesaver also helps I suppose (ideal for clay and wind cylinders perhaps?)

Yeah, because you will always have time to full charge.

You know, cuz you can load 5 Flame Bursts in .8 seconds.

Unless Chain Cylinder is practically Rank 1 or w/ Master title (30/40%) Activation Rate, it can load in like 2 seconds.
Flame Burst can do about 5 hits at rank 1, and it can hit for 100-400's while Watercannon full crit can hit 1000-2000+ crit. However, Flame Burst if used like
FLame Burst full charge+ Wind Blast is perfect, and makes sure you get allowed to use Heat Buster. Flame burst is 3/4 of the hits needed at max charge, then Windblast for the last 1/4 and then heatbuster is useable.

An Alchemists Trumpcard is Heat Buster.
