Need some help with Romantic evening dress

  I sold off the Banallen shoes along with the clothings and the hat. It's a wonderful piece of outfit but not really meant for me. I'm more happy than sad about seeing it sold off. (And I have adequate compensation for it, although my asking price was much more. Was kind of worried the buyer wouldn't want it since there were a few problems.) I have a few pictures of it and that's really enough for me. I didn't like the Banallen shoes enough on first impression.
  
  On the other hand, I like romantic evening dress in an indescribable way but there is something about it that seems really odd. I didn't notice it before I got the dress, because there was no way to. (Character simulator for romantic evening dress for humans/elves wasn't working.) When I got the dress from the trade and first tried it, something about it seemed odd. The dress was top pseudo-white and bottom was purple or so, and it looked really weird.
  
  I dyed it, switching white to the bottom part and blue to the time, but something is still weird about it.
  
  Now before I do sell this off (which to me isn't necessary if I can get the outfit right), I wonder what's wrong with it. I think it has to do with the color, or shoes, but I'm not exactly sure. So I need a few second opinions here on what I can do to improve it.

  I know you can't figure out what it is that seems off to you, but if you could describe it a little better it'd help. Personally I think the shoes and hat colorings are off compared to the dress. I assume they're a different material than the dress so the dyes don't dye the same? Anyway to me that's what's off. I like the style of the shoes and hat with the dress, but the off-coloring makes them stand out too much against it. You want them to meld so the outfit really comes together.

  My first impression of the dress is cake dress, which is something that bothers me. I find the bottom tiers to be a bit fluffy. When the color was reversed, it looked much worse. It's white now which I think it is better, but there's still a problem. I'm a bit bothered by the lack of balance of the dress. The fluffy part is still too noticeable. I want to downplay it as much as possible.
  
  I do agree the hat and shoes are a problem since they are leather material. (Trouble is that the simulator won't allow me to test out every kind of shoe/hat with the outfit, otherwise I could decide on my own.)

  Is that ribbon part on the side dye-able? You could make that a darker blue to match your eyes and see how that goes.
  
  You could try making the top tier a darker or brighter(my choice) blue. That would help take your eye off the bottom fluffy tier. Right now the blue isn't equal to the bright white. It helps that the bottom isn't darker than the top, but now the brightness is taking over. It makes it stand out still.
  
  I'm not sure how much you want to spend on this dress, and I've noticed you like the lighter blues, but you could try darkening the blue top tier to match your eyes as well. My gut feeling though is you need to brighten the top.

  Personally I liked the darker blues you had on your other outfit. Light colors on that dress do make it feel like a cake, but darker colors will help give it a more elegant look, which is more along the lines of what it's supposed to look.
  
  The first problem is the balance of the dress, but that can be fixed. What you need to do first, though, is fix the other problems first, because for the most part, the dress itself isn't that big of a problem.
  
  Let's start with the shoes. They're too high, and the style is wrong. The dress is already large and potentially clunky, and the shoes only add to that. The level of detail on them in comparison to the dress also makes them look worse. You need something more "dainty". I'm thinking something like Mary Janes.
  
  If you're okay with leaving that ribbon an off-white, I say leave it, if not, probably turn it black or dark blue. I can't use the simulator to coordinate but..
  Dark blue main for the hat, white or black rim. Dark blue for the top of the dress, black ribbon, white skirt. Dark blue bow on the shoes, and the shoe part itself in a black or white. The balance probably won't be perfect unless you're willing to stick with only 2 colors, though, I'm thinking. If that's true, then black would probably be better if you don't want the bow to look weird.
  The hat has similar problems. The cloth colors are difficult to deal with and match to the dress, and the style doesn't quite fit. It CAN be made to fit if dyed correctly. If you still have the dark blue Volume Beret, I'd recommend going for that one instead, and changing the coloring on the dress slightly.

  I'm not exactly intending to have the boots and the hat match the dress. I might not even need a hat. I might use sailor shoes for the dress. I'm also considering the special server-exclusive 5th anniversary shoes (very similar to high heels or whatever shoes that looks similar to sailor shoes, except that it looks like tinkle-bell shoes with the furball at the front of the shoes).
  
  It seems to be that the dress colours right now is good for dark-skinned characters. The whole outfit is kind of bright to me right now.
  
  I might still sell it in the end but I'll leave the decision hanging until I actually get an offer for the dress.
  
  I'll be looking for a simulator that's working first before testing out the colours. It's very difficult for me to visualise what works, but I appreciate the help.

  Anyways, I'm not sure if your ribbon is dyed pure white because right now, it looks rather greyish to me, which throws off the dress. I don't think your shoes and hat match the dress either. Since the dress is something very frilly with a huge ribbon, a hat or headgear with frills or ribbons would match it more. As well, perhaps shoes that don't actually look silver instead of white.

  Here's my friend. The ribbon on her is flashy, turns into various shades of blue including the bottom part of her dress.

  Although I realize that everyone has their specific color schemes, I don't think this dress fits every color scheme.
  
  I had the bottom part dyed pure white, and then gold, and then black (just..no), and finally settled on this peach tone.
  
  I think due to the "fluffiness" of the bottom part, white is too harsh for it, but if the bottom part is a deeper shade than the top, it looks kinda off, also.
  
  But hey, that's just my opinions.
  
  
  For shoes, I suggest Daby Scots, Bonita Plumed, or no shoes at all ><.
  
  For hat...Pearl Shine, Dainty Corsage, or Shining Stars are nice (if you're going for elegant).
  
  I actually saved a Romantic Straw Hat from way back when, but it doesnt look as nice with the dress as I'd originally thought xD

  I think barefoot would be great. I didn't think of that. That and the straw hat would give a wistful feel. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but that sounds great to me.
