I'm not striving to be the best. At the moment I'm striving towards r2 Refine and becoming a useful member to Alexina. Unfortunately the more time put into something the better your gonna be so inevitably everyone who stays long enough is gonna become good. Besides being good has a good feeling about it, like you accomplished something hard and worked so long. Some people find that fun

Okay then if you find all that crap fun, why are you complaining?

Hiccup wrote on 2010-05-01 04:07
Cause it's not fun now. Was fun not anymore. Hoping it will be later ._.

Okay, well, posting about it on a forum isn't going to change the magical and invisible force that decides what's fun for you and what's not. :/

You're worrying way too much. You'll never, ever, ever reach the top ranks of people up there since they'll keep playing and leveling at the same rate you will, so why bother? Gaming isn't about being the best, it's about fun. I was once a beta player on my old character that got wiped during G3 because of a perma ban from CA. He was only level 200 with no trans at all or anything good on him, but I still played for the fun. Until the ban started, I went on hitaus for awhile, and came back to Mabinogi with a new character. It's been over a year now, and I've only achieved 300 on my new character, but I played for the fun of it, and the urges from my friends to keep going.
The feeling from being good in something dries out quickly. I suggest you shoot from something else more fun, since being the best isn't exactly fun when you can own anything in your path without a scratch.

No but seeing whats fun for other people is worth a shot no? I have hardly been playing Mabinogi due to school, groundings, and un-interested. I want to get back into it and by trying what is fun for other people might turn out to be fun for me to. Your just a debbie downer on my road to liking Mabi again ;~;

You didn't talk about my life experiences :<
If you're tired of Mabinogi Brad, how about we suggest some good games to keep you preoccupied until your Mabinogi urges begin to tingle:
Atlantica(Turn-Based MMO)
Valkyrie Sky(Vertical SHMUP[Shoot em' up] MMO)
Touhou(Refer to the Touhou thread)
Audition(Button-pressing Beat Dancing MMO thing)
DFO(Arcade-like MMO that resembles Dungeons and Dragons in a sense)
Ehh I can't think of anymore. Someone add games that don't involve spam-F key+watching.

Touhou- oh I have the new SWR game on this comp. Should bring that up while refining!! Other then that meh...
Atlantica- doesn't interest me
Audition- nty, rather play Dance Groove if I had to pick a dancing game
DFO- doesn't interest anymore
Valkyrie Sky- Changed too much for me to like anymore. They could really improve that game.
I've already played 4 new MMO's this week all deleted off my comp. Would rather just sit on Mabi bored, draw, or play S4.

The only thing I haven't seen mentioned that might help is joining an active guild
On a side note, I too am lvl 3xx, and am fed up of grinding basic SM's (lvl 41 atm). So, I'm going to try to start refining, and after that, I have rC taming to do, the rest of g8, g9, etc. When I get discouraged, I just think what would happen if I took a break. Like you , I "want to be good" as in better than my friends. If I took a break (like my friend who is playing DFO), I would fall behind (like my friend is) and ultimately regretting it when I inevitably start playing again. Maybe take a break until next season, if you really need a break. Hope that helps :P

Well I just got off a months grounding so I don't need/want a break. I'm in Bloodraven for Mari and nothing yet for Alexina. Good point though about guilds.

well itll start getting fun when you get r1 wm / r1 smash / r1 bolt / high def. for me it is, at least. my damage isn't great but havinig those skills makes fighting comfortable and fun.
