If it makes you feel better, I too have been playing since beta and am only TL ~370. Then again, there have been periods where I quit for a substantial amount of time (e.g. first summer where crashes happened every 5 min basically, no free rebirthing, etc)
If you find yourself having to use use the word "grind" to describe your activities on Mabinogi, you're not doing it right. Personally I don't even know how people can run the same dungeon/SM over and over and over again. I just do one or two and find something else to do or log off.

Well I just got off a months grounding so I don't need/want a break.
It's nice to have goals but it's also important not to be stressed out by them; it sounds like you're under some pressure from yourself to achieve all your goals ASAP.
Usually I decide what to do for a Mabi sitting impromptu. I log on and think to myself: okay, what do I feel like doing today? Just today, I suddenly decided to go explore even though I had been refining for the past few days. Rome wasn't built overnight, so take your time and do other things in between too.
Sometimes I log on once a week. Sometimes I play 10 hours in a row. It's important to not get overwhelmed. Just chill out, relax, and do whatever you want to :)

Partying with people makes things a lot of fun. Find a bunch of people your level and try to do something moderately challenging, like Ciar Adv or Shadow Wizard Int. Sometimes, lulz ensues and in the end, you might get better exp partying than you would if you soloed.

I like running dungeons with random people. Imagine the boredom hanging out with the same group of people all the time.
I guess it's also the reason why I don't do well in guilds. I'm not really a guild hopper though. I just like partying with anyone.
It helps a lot that I'm level 1000 plus. Now that I can choose between hard mode and advanced level shadow missions, which almost everyone else are doing, it's so worth it.

Thing is though, I don't want to give up Mabinogi since no other good MMO's are out atm. I've been trying a whole lot of new ones and they all fail horribly.... I just went through 4 games in a day due to them all being sucky, and yes I really tried to find fun but doing click+watch stopped being fun years ago.
I really wanna play Maple again but it wont work says I'm hacking ;~; same thing with CA, or gives me the 503 (security/firewall error) when I have everything Maple and CA related approved.
Surprisingly, I feel just like Brad. -Just in a WAY newbier way with the levels and damage...-
I always was on edge with Mabinogi, that's why I made the story.
New ones, I agree, fail HORRIBLY. So many maple copiers...
MapleStory isn't doing too well atm, it has overpriced itmes for overpowered classes. Enough said.
:]

I like to party with random people too. I try to mix it up a bit.

Haha, I try to pvp from time to time, record it, and whatnot.
That reminds me to upload some fights right about now!
I'm actually trying for R1 defense but spamming rats is boring...

I keep changing things up. When I get tired of doing one thing, I do something completely different. Dungeon runs getting boring? Time to work on blacksmithing. That's too tedious? Go do some exploring. Explored everything? Run some part-time jobs. That's what I love about Mabi, always something different and useful to do.
Of course, that means I've got multiple characters, none of which are very high level. But level grinding is too boring.

i focus on maxing out my character's damage potential.
This includes maxing out Ego, chasing ever-elusive equipment, etc.
It keeps me occupied.

Start a brand new giant.
Max out rank 1 windmill.
Do some life skills.
Enjoy the game.

Rebirth every week. Spend a few hours grinding and having fun. Repeat every week.
I do this even when I have equipments, levels, and skill ranks that most people would just dream of.
I never really play my elf very much because it requires so much clicking. I don't play Giant because it feels like my human without the range.

I found that i wanted to return to Mabinogi more so after I went and played random MMOs. I touched my very n00bish and old character on Perfect World, then played some Dragon Oath, and so on. It reminds me what I like about Mabi and why it's the only MMO I can stand since I returned after I quit online gaming several years ago.
I'm obsessed with builds. Not so much to be the best so much as to make really good builds. Something I can't exactly do and have fun with on other MMOs. I have made so many characters and have planned several for the future. I have little to no desire to play my main anymore so I'm going back to my old gaming/RP style of making builds and giving a character life and personality through their strengths and weaknesses.
It's more fun to play a game if your character is just that, a character. Not a pixilated tool, not an online version of yourself, just a character. That's how I game anyway.
It's really disheartening to be behind everyone, this I know form my own dumb choices throughout the game. But there's something to state about Mabinogi compared to most MMOs. it's not about your total level and more so about how to use your skills. If your feeling in a rut because your so far behind just remember that. You can kill a TL 1000 with a new character if you know what your doing (I've witnessed this before).
My little advice:
Either go on hiatus and play other games to remind yourself why you liked mabinogi to start with, or find a good group in game to hang out with in a guild or no guild and just play. make a new character if you think your down and out. That's what i do anyway.

By unexpected Nao Bomb spamming? Yea, I witnessed it before too.
