Bubble tea doesn't taste good at all, but all of my friends absolutely love it.

^ Is it so hard to explain dumping the pearls in boiling water and waiting two hours? Oh and stir because they may stick to the bottom. It's been a while since I made it so I don't remember if they float or not. Don't forget to add more water than you need to since 2 hours of boiling boils off a lot of water.

Bubble tea omg
I only really like the standard-flavored milk tea with bubbles... but it's sooo good. I just buy the tapioca pearls from the asian market and boil those. You're supposed to soak them in honey/brown sugar water for a few hours after boiling to make them sweet, and then put it in the tea after that's done. As for how to actually make the pearls out of their base ingredients, I have no clue :(

My mom had a friend who could make pearls from scratch. It was crazy stuff.

Interesting! I'll have to try that.
As for making certain foods from scratch. The effort and time just isn't worth it sometimes, especially when a lot of things take machines to make. The money tend to not be worth it.
Though I did make Pico De Gallo today, which would normally be 4.99 at a local grocery, but with the ingredients (tomato, half an onion, jalapenos, lime juice and other spices), it runs around 2.50-ish. Makes dem chips delicious and much more affordable.

Did you use premixed tea or did you make your own tea?

Creating your own tea sounds like a lot of work... Unless you meant just using a tea bag/loose tea.

Well they obviously come in bags. Unless you're talking about some sort of mix where all the sugar and stuff is included and you just stir it in cold water. Those taste horrible.
The one I made is actually Columbian coffee I have a coffee maker), sugar and cream, optional earl gray or green tea (I also have corn tea and barley tea), iced, hazelnut syrup, tapioca beads. (in that order).
In this case I didn't use tea at all, or I'd have to make the coffee darker to make up for the tea. So it was really just iced hazelnut coffee.
