Its 400% waste of money. Trust me, the only thing that makes it bubble tea is the pearls at the bottom and they're horrible. Tasteless, chewy, a pain on your jaws, and costs like 4 dollars for a serving.
But the hazelnut latte tea itself isn't bad at all. I like it.
I only learned how to make it because its the most obsessive fad in hipsters nowadays and being able to prepare it scores me plenty of points.
Was a big fad over here. Bubble tea craze till many bubble tea shops came out and fell like flies eventually.
I still like the drink but I don't get to drink it often. Only one franchise over here sells above average bubble tea and I don't always go past those areas.
The pearls aren't supposed to be tasteless, you should add some sugar or honey to give them some taste. (someone beat me to it...white sugar is also fine if you cannot use brown type.) Those stuff are made of tapioca flour...which are used in quite a few Malay (Peranakan?) sweet desserts too...
