Sword Lann & Trash Mobs

  I'm a level 20 Lann atm, and I'm still deciding which weapon path to go initially. For me, the biggest let down about being a sword Lann is how annoying it is to clear trash mobs. I was thinking that the shockwave attack would make things easier, but I don't get that until level 30 (past when I've unlocked spears). I know it's not a huge deal, but could somebody tell me?
  
  Does anyone else find it annoying to clear trash mobs as a Sword Lann, and does it get easier later on?

  A Sword Lann does just fine clearing trash imo, I mostly just use LLLR>GF when clearing. I wouldn't waste the AP on r9 needles until much later, I did early on and wished I didn't.

  in my opinion, i believe spear lanns are better.

  I switch between swords and spears and I can say both clear trash mobs pretty fast.
  The only reason spear Lann is faster is due to spinning smash but you run out of stamina quickly using it.
  
  Right now you have to deal with many easy to kill mobs that are spread around, spear wipes through those easily.
  Swords are pretty good for a more dense spawn and there's a lot more of those in boats 3 and 4.
  Later you have gliding+lightning fury for both weapons, those skills really help you one hit kill a lot of trash mobs at once.

  Stay sword lann. I've seen some amazing sword lann players.
  I also saw a sword lann who soloed the Hidden spider in hard macha after the entire raid got wiped out. It was pretty awesome.

  I don't think I could do it with my hammer Fiona but if I had a sword Lann it would be a piece of cake.
  
  Do a double crescent after sliding to the side when the spider does the jump forward. Repeat.

  well, gotta agree with cucurbita, i have tried both, at first when i tried spear, i was like "oh my God!!! so f*****g awesome!! spears rocks!!! yeah!!! *spin spin spin *spinspinspinspin *fury *spin spin spin - *boss dies *awesome"
  after a while its more like "*spin spin spin, got tired of it, its like there are no beauty on the gameplay, it's exciting but for me it gets boring at the long run...
  
  sword on the other hands, is a little bit more like my fav char, evie, the gameplay needs more hit and run strategy, even though its attack is a bit weaker (or a lot??) than spear, it definetely won my heart over with its beautiful gameplay style ;p
  
  well, not all spear user is boring though, its just me that i cant use spear lann well...
  
  i believe there are some awesome spear user out there that knows more than just spinning all the time;)

  I personally dislike spear, even with trash mobs. Spin takes out all your stamina, and clears maybe 1 wave, then you have to waste HP on trash mobs with Fury Infusion.
  
  Sword on the other hand is good for bossing, amazing at taking no damage whatsoever, and still has decent damage/can clear trash as well as spear if not better.
  
  And my Lann has R9 Fury and +5 Lv32 Spears, so don't say I haven't quite seen the full potential of Spears.

  I actually agree with you guys. IMO Spear Lann is probably the best class due to one of the best damage outputs in the game as well as strikingly good manueverability which lets him dodge things soo easily. But that gets boring..
  
  I've fallen in love with Scythe Evie. She's not as strong or capable as Spear Lann but she's damn fun and pretty sexy too. So much more fun than spear lann, even though he's so much better.

  Arguably, Scythe Evie's DPS matches Spear Lann's DPS.
