Golem does no damage at all dude.
Spear DPS is overrated like hell.
But the golem holds most of the aggro so you can pretty much go all offense. No?
Meanwhile Spear Lann can be all offense and dodge at the same time.

The only way I see Spear Lann as all DPS is if he's facing a boss with the AI of a Boat 1 Gnoll. He'll die in a few seconds if the boss does more than sit around and **** bricks.

That's pretty insulting to spear lanns everywhere.

I'm just saying, if you want the best DPS out of Spear Lann you're gonna be running at 1 HP at all times, and if you can't dodge as well as an Olympian I don't see how you'll pump out DPS surpassing that of a Scythe Evie.

Perhaps this could be settled objectively somehow, though that seems near impossible.
Spear Lann definitely does more damage than Scythe Evie when a boss is stunned, though, and I don't think Spear Lann needs to have fury infusion on the entire time to compete with Scythe Evie.

I guess it depends on play style, and we all have our own opinions, so let's just say "it depends."

Twin Spear Lann probably needs to have fury infusion on all the time to keep up with an Evy just because of the ridiculously high percentiles Evy has on all of her attacks. Since Evy does most of her damage using the high percentile magical hits that she uses to tag the boss, she doesn't lose much damage when it comes to the hit and run play style. A Twin Spear Lann fighting in the same scenario must be much more careful, and therefore can't continuously pump out attacks, which is where all of his DPS comes from. He's more about tons of hits in a short span, whereas Evy is big hits here and there.

I like how this derailed to a dps thread. Also between spear lanns and evies... oh boy. lol
Seriously, in the long run, it doesn't really matter what weapon you choose.
I'm sure spears will eventually overcome any shortcomings like having to learn how to dodge while being in "deadly" (lol). That is, at least those who continue to actually play all the way through the future contents.
Evies are, well, evies. Pretty straightforward with blink and watching out so that all your mana shields don't break off.
DPS-wise, whatever, just make sure you get your attacks in without having to be ressed.
---
Anyways, yeah, lanns imo start off pretty weak in general. Once core skills get maxed or maybe it was using the latest weapon, whatever, you notice how simple it is to take on trash mobs.

well if it comes to DPS, we should also consider the party, wether its solo run or its party run?? i must say, on party run, spear lann would probably be the best DPS as for a lot of aggro divides
but, honestly for solo run, i think evie would probably DPS better? having able to smash then blink and magic smash someplace safe then rinse and repeat, with insane reaper, its almost like u're having no stamina reduction at all, after the insane reap is done, the SP bar would have filled more than 1 bar
that's taking consider u're not using golem.
using golem?? meh, on some bosses wise evie would use one, on some would not
but on the right boss, evie + golem = dead boss
im not saying spear lann sucks on solo run, they do just fine, with fine players
evie would sucks when the one who plays her sucks
so as panda said, it depends :P
lets make this argue a sweet nice argue, dont play with the fire guys:thumb:

I don't think I could do it with my hammer Fiona but if I had a sword Lann it would be a piece of cake.
Do a double crescent after sliding to the side when the spider does the jump forward. Repeat.

Your just too pro papa :P
I must say I prefer playing with swords on my lann, though I haven't tried spears yet but from just looking at people with spears I much rather swords, they look more fun imo. I don't see many struggle with trash mobs either..

Ahhh the memories. We got pretty high in that PvP ladder too until everyone started popping up with packeted +15 everything.
