See the thing is, you got "friends family" going, and while money cannot buy these things, it really helps you relieve the tension that sometimes makes it hard to connect with friends and family.
You don't need money to have a good relationship with your friends and family, but money is a huge help when trying too.

If you can appreciate what money is worth and what you have, then yeah, money = happiness.
'Cept you can't buy friends, so there's a downside.

Arguments against the statement that money brings happiness would be that:
-Money is just material and can only do so much for you. A person who goes off to fish in the woods and lives off nature doesn't necessarily need money to gain happiness. Food is available to him by fishing, let's say, he can build shelter from his surroundings, etc., etc.
-With money comes debt. And debt makes no one content. By having money, it doesn't necessarily mean that you will have all the things you want. You will have to pay bills and etc.
-Money can make people grow bitter or arrogant. Also, some people get rich and get sick of money. It no longer makes them happy since they have obtained all they could have possibly wanted. While it is true that money brings some contentment to people's lives, money also corrupts. It can destroy good relationships between friends and family.

I rather be poor/homeless and kind than rich and snooty.

There are those rare people who aren't snooty even though they're rich. :/ RARE.

Then again, there are the people who pretend to be rich even though they aren't. :/COMMON.

The items that you achieve with that money will most likely make your life easier from the hardships of poverty, and for other luxories
But money itself, no :what:

While money can bring a certain degree of happiness, it does not always do so. It's not very difficult to find miserable rich people (pun definitely intended).

Money = Comfort
Comfort -> Happiness, but sometimes Comfort =/= Happiness
Thus, Money = Happiness, while Money =/= Happiness.

Money Alone no.
There are really a lot of factors that you have to account for in this. Are you a soloist or a people person? Do you have good social skills or do you have a invisible force-field wherever you go? What truly makes you happy also plays a big part.

There was actually some scientific study done that said most arguments in relationships are over money and it ended up saying that money can buy happiness.
