Compare the difficulty of pulling off a FB to the difficulty of pulling off Loom+Thread.

I'm not sure where you're going with this. The only metric I was arguing with you on (as far as a snap or firebolt being "better") was the damage per use.

Irrelevant post.

Most Staff Evie I've played at least bring Fireball, Golem, Magic Arrow, and Fine Magic Arrow.
Why would anyone bring a Magic Arrow gem AND a Fine Magic Arrow gem? :what:
I usually bring a golem kit, firebolt gem, fine magic arrow gem, healing runes, and feathers.

Well I already know that Sythe Evie's are more powerful...the topic of this thread is geared towards how many players are like me who are Pure Staff Evies AND use that as their main.
I solo just fine with my Staff Evie...slower yes...not as effective sure! But at least it's pure magic in the traditional sense and I happen to prefer it over Sythe. Then again, I'm not a player who's all about raw damage but is more for raw strategy.
It's like the argument between Spear and Sword Lanns if you think about it.
So, yes you could spend your time arguing why us Pure Staff Evies are useless but that's not the topic of this thread

I was wondering why this managed to turn into a Scythie vs Staffie thread.
:/ Can't people just accept that their character isn't the best? Seriously, it's kind of stupid if you ask me. The thread isn't about damage per damage or why you didn't go Staffie, it's about those who went the Staff route.
Also! *coughs* Get your Stamina Recovery up to r7 (since we can't uncap it past that just yet) and you'll be loving the damage from Firebolt. I'm almost at the point where it's just waiting for the Firebolt cooldown, then I can use it once - melee or Magic Arrow for a few seconds and then I'm off to another Firebolt. :P And I really see no hard way of landing a Firebolt. Most the time the bosses can just walk right into it (Tyrant, Kobold Chief, the Gnoll Kings, etc).
However, I do agree that the Scythie if their ranks are comparable to the Staffies, can do the same amount of damage. Not more, not less. Unless you suck at your character, then we have to figure that in too.

Wow I literally misread your first post and thought I read
Okay, I've been playing as an Evie for quite sometime. One thing I wonder from time to time especially after joining a party and seeing tons of Sythe Evie's is, wondering if I should switch to scythe.
Epic fail on my part.
Don't even take it personally my main is Sword Lann >_>

^ This. Now if I could only find a party who would let me use Firebolt before the boss, so I can earn enough SP to be a lot more useful. It's rather annoying to have to run well ahead of a group just to have a cluster of mobs to myself. It's even more annoying when one of my party members follows me and proceeds to knock back all the trash mobs I was just about to kill.
:sigh:

Oh? Stam Regen can get to r7...I'm so switching to fully ranking that once I finish this Golem Mastery rank...I already started training that so I can't go back to training stam regen until I finish that...oh well...I do love being Bossy (Aiming for that title)

I use staffs but since I slacked I'm without golems yet >w<
I have /decent/ scythe skills though (Maybe 1k-1.5k AP invested?) just because I can't solo well with staff since I'm used to my friends scythe-spamming everything to death so I don't have as much focused into a solo build as much as I should by now. But it's going well to solo assuming I don't get interrupted by a family member.

I played with the idea of going hybrid, but once I started capping my staff skills and saw what kind of burst damage I had I changed my mind. That and since this game is a lot laggier than its korean counterpart, healing is much more useful.
That being said, Blind Arrow does crazy amounts of damage for how easy it is to hit with...and the knockdown rate is pretty absurd to boot. I keep surprising myself with how fast it drops bosses during dailies.
-
Roy Mustang wrote on 2010-12-13 23:01
Ya, I too considered going hybrid but by this point...I'd rather put my AP once I cap my skills into things like Standing Endurance and Life Flare seeing that Evie takes forever to get back up, thus having that extra Standing Endurance would prevent me from being Knocked down as easily seeing that us Staff Evies have a harder time dodging :/
That and I detest using potions so having the ability to use healing runes is easier to heal, quicker to heal, and overall in the long run...a whole lot cheaper.

xD Once they up the cap, we'll be able to get it to r6 too! <3 Then it should match out my Firebolt timing perfectly. ;) And yeah, as soon as I saw that title.. I was going, "Do want. Now!".
