Okay I brought up an interesting point in the Snow Tiger thread, so I figured I would move that discussion to this thread instead.
Let's take a look at our existing tabs...
We have the All tab, the "Combat" tab, the Magic tab, the Alchemy tab, the Transformation tab, the Life tab, and the Demigod tab.
I feel that the Combat tab should be segregated into two seperate tabs...Melee and Ranged. Our Skill window is already crowded so why not just seperate them as Ranged operates much differently than Melee does.
In G13 with the introduction of Bow and Crossbow Mastery, we will have 7 Ranged Skills for Humans (AR,Support Shot, Crash Shot, Ranged Attack, Magnum Shot, and the 2 masteries), Elves will have 8 Ranged Skills(Masteries,Ranged Attack,Magnum Shot, Final Shot, Mirage Missle, Crash Shot, Support Shot)
Now, one may argue, with so little skills why have another tab for it. My answer...What about the Trans and Demigod tab...you have for most trans 8 skills in that tab and for demigod you only have 6.
One could also go on and say that Alchemy and Magic is combat...and that Combat is too general a term for a tab. Factor in the fact that G13 seems to have brought about the idea of classes into Mabinogi and even brought about a buff system...
Should Knights who operate by the sword be able to double train archery skills cause it's in the same tab? Or should it be segregated for better clarity?
Anyways discuss!

So... All, Melee, Range, Magic, Alchemy, Life, Transformation, and Demi?
That'd be a good thing to do, but usually people have hotkeys, and only use the skill window to rank up skills, or check their progress, right?

What will become of my combat tab hotkey settings?
Does that mean I can't AR-WM anymore?

Well hotkeys I hadn't considered...I usually only use skills in the f1-f12 context and thus that hadn't crossed my mind. I just like things to be more organized. But that's just me. I'm a HUGE organizational freak. If my inventory is not organized I go in a mass organization spree, same goes with my pets. To add, in general I'm biased towards archery.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
Un-needed.
They just need to give passive a different tab.

One thing to add...I have my skill tabs organized by rank...One thing that always bugs the heck out of me is the fact that past the number 9 the skills don't stay in the order I put them in...I like my skills in a r1->rF order just to throw into context why i favor skill tab seperation.

There is seperate tabs for demi-god and transformation because:
1) They were in different generation
2) While they are both transformation, they are very different. The skills for each of the transformation requires an transformation first. You can't use demi-god and expect to use the regular transformation skills.
I think the way combat is now is better than separating it to melee and range. It seems to make more sense than splitting it. Would WM counts as a ranged attack or melee attack?

Mod your combat tab into range and edit skillinfo.xml to hide all your meele skills from your skill window.

Melee Attack as it does not factor in the damage of the bow.

Also, I Don't mod, so your very suggestion to mod leaves a terrible taste to my mouth...
Bleh, nasty mods...taste VERY nasty.

I'm fairly certain eating any sort of data would taste terribly bad.

Lol ya probably...I was staying it more in a figurative sense in that I look down on modders and mods and view it as not legit...but that's another matter that I'd rather not discuss.

Then if people who is new to the game and see WM, they will probably go "WTH? its not melee, look at the range of the skill".
Is there any reason to separate them besides that you think it is "crowded"? Maybe someone should suggest that alchemy skills should be separated as well because it is too crowded.

You could just put AR and WM in the first 9 skill placements of the ALL tab. o_o

But the thing is I set up All tab so that I can use magic and meele freely.
like smash and lightning bolt next to each other. and farther down the number i have evasion, healing.

Btw you can turn that off. Most laptops you can choose what the F keys will be primarily used for. You can make it so like volume and stuff requires you to click the Fn key and the F1-F12 keys are just clicking those buttons.
