Quote from PandaSong;248646:
People have been "discussing" and shoving it down peoples throats why they think their class is the best. That's not giving reasons of what do you prefer and why. That's going, "My type is better than yours". Especially since they give out the wrong facts and jump to conclusions about Staff Evies. Let the Staff Evies tell why they like it, not the Scythe Evies tell why they didn't go Staff. This is the reason I'm saying it's becoming like the official forums -- I don't mind people stating their opinions as long as they do it properly.
The problem is this: Those who are saying Staff is bad? Haven't played a Staff that has maxed skills. The Scythe is very powerful at boat 1, 2 and 3. Not so much on boat 4 (Evy herself is awesome because of the shields, which means we can make mistakes).
If that's the case then the topic name shouldn't be "Staff or Scythes" but instead a topic to appraise staff such as example "Staff is Fun to Use!" and list out reasons why staff is fun to you. Then from that point, you can ask people what fun part of staff they enjoy using, even though they may or may not be a scythe wielder, then move on from there. The topic title itself is suggesting "Do you prefer Staff or Scythe" and "why you choose it." But what you're looking for is people to agree good points about the staff rather than hearing how Weapon A is better than Weapon B. If so, it should have been remade with a different topic name.
If you think Staff is good, then stick with it. No one is forcing you. I myself, enjoy using Large Shields in normal mob bosses and have been berated for not using a small shield to counter and to play my "Fiona" right by using counter attack to force the boss down to its knees. But that doesn't bother me because I deal damage, complete the Bonus Points, and succeed in soloing many bosses and have numerous accomplishments using the large shield. I don't have to prove my style to anyone as long as I myself have the confidence and knowledge in knowing what I am doing now is working. If people say the future content will make large shields more grim to use, then I'll show them that even with future contents, I can make the large shield effective!
At the same time I don't get upset when someone says I'm not playing Fiona right by not using a small shield and counter for normal mission bosses. I understand they are correct in
that playstyle and recognize it is an effective style and I just listen instead of complaining because I have confidence in my own playstyle. On the same coin, I don't become the same as those people who berate me and nor do I look for approval by others or force down the belief that "Large Shield is ineffective when compared to small shields for normal mission bosses".
Why do I need to argue and get upset with them when I know myself how well I play with large shields in normal mission bosses? I prove my worth with actions in-game and every now and then there will be people who will say "Wow, never thought Large Shields could be so good in normal bosses".
But I'm getting off-topic.
You shouldn't feel threaten by Scythe Evies playstyles or get upset when someone starts listing negative penalties about your favorite weapons. Be more confident in your favorite weapon and just prove with action instead of being sad that it's being debated heavily against.
As long as you, yourself, can play the class effectively and efficiently, then that just proves that Staff is a viable weapon so as long there are people who can make "S class" work with the staff. Just be more confident in your staff skills against the majority of Scythe Evies. =)
Personally I enjoy hearing people discuss how large shield is ineffective in normal mission bosses when compared to small shields, because I know deep down that large shield being good in normal mission bosses can be done because I already fought all the bosses with victory. =p
