If extraterrestrials came to this planet (peaceful ones, of course) and sought out to bring humans back to their planet as an representative of Planet Earth; an emissary.
You'd teach all those other beings on that planet the history of your people, your language, perhaps even the units you use on Earth (i.e. meters, seconds, kilograms).
But there's one catch: you'll visit every 3~5 years or so, due to the travel lengths between their star system and your own Solar System. Or maybe you'd never come back.
Would you go?
I dunno if I would, but I would certainly be tempted. If I had no kids or a spouse, I would certainly go. But it'd be hard. I'd miss them my folks and friends a lot.
But man, it'd be the experience of a lifetime. On another planet!
What would you do?

I would tell them to pick someone nicer and more optimistic.
First off, I don't believe I'm nearly intelligent. Also, I strongly dislike much of humanity so I could really end up showing them a bad side of us.
And while "I hate dealing with people" and "having a job is boring" is a great excuse to go, in the end you're just dealing with alien people and having a job as a representative of Earth.
Just give them a copy of this and tell them to go see oprah or something.

Probably not. As much as I find extraterrestrial life interesting, I'm a big baby. Aliens were one of the things I was terrified of when I was younger and I would lay awake all night because I was afraid they were going to get me.
I'd be afraid they'd eat me or never bring me home or something.

There saucer might blow up mysteriously if I went with them

I sure wouldn't. I would be highly suspicious at how these aliens knew how to speak our languages in the first place. Who knows, if they take you back, they might perform tons of experiments on you. In fact, if these peaceful aliens had so high technology, they can surely take a group of people peacefully, and they would never know. Why would they even come to Earth in the first place? There are a billion stars in our galaxy, and there are a billion galaxies.
If these peaceful aliens don't keep up with their 3-5 year bargain, who is going to help you? Are you going to call the space police? What if they pull a "ispeaknoengrish" on you when you get on their ship?
Who knows, they might have you fight against the Zerg or something.

Watch this and after tell me if you would still go. These beings are unknown entities with an unknown agenda. Our society has difficulties trusting each other, how could we possibly and honestly trust aliens?

I wouldn't go because I honestly don't believe there is one person that can represent an entire planet, let alone myself be that person. Knowing my luck, I'd end up dooming our planet. <.< Think of all the culture and languages across the world that would have to represent Earth, I barely know America, let alone the entire world.
Besides, then I'd be to far away from my adorable love. :(

Hmm fighting Zerg might be interesting now that you mention it/

As we are now Earth wouldn't last 12 hours against the zerg.
Basic marine rifle shells only deal 6 damage when shot 4 times (according to sound). Those guns are huge and those bullets are huge.
Zerglings have 35 hp, meaning they'd need to take 24 shots from a magnetic accelerated gauss rifle to kill. We don't have many things that match up to something of that caliber as it is.
And these are the weakest zerg units.
We'd probably have tanks blasting away at Ultralisks for like an hour before it actually dies.
Not to mention there are literally billions of zerglings.

Let's just spam firebats or whatever is the real life equivalent.

I know I'm not the first one to say this, but I wouldn't feel worthy of representing my planet. There are plenty of more knowledgeable people who would do better job teaching them about us. However, if they chose me and only me for some inexplicable reason then yes I would go because it sounds exciting and a good opportunity to learn new stuff.

I would be highly suspicious of being held captive and tortured as if I were a zoo animal.
Though I would probably go anyway. :what:
