People that do not like anime

I agree--Mabinogi certainly doesn't have ONE art-style, so it's not exactly like you're looking at anime art every single second you play. The portraits that come up during generation quests definitely don't look like anime-style to me now that I think about it, especially the portraits of the goddesses in recent generations.

those shifts all tend to be not drastic though (still shares similiar characteristics, and really isn't big enough for me to notice, until G13)

Mabinogi has really leaned to the more common and popular art styles of modern anime. G9-12 and G13-14 is the most drastic change in art I've seen so far.

Edit: I wouldn't consider it anime but you can't say it's any renaissance painting either.

Though of course I can't speak for everyone, I'd classify something as "anime" when I see hairstyles or eyes that are repetitive-looking from anime. Each and every anime is not exactly the same, but you can certainly tell differences with hairstyles such as the "Spiky Male Hair" or the "Samurai Hair". Mabinogi also has anime eyes, anything that really resembles this:

See the semi-circle eyes, huge pupils, and eyelined eyes? And no eyelashes? That's what I would consider anime eyes.

Sevian's Mabinogi II picture on the other hand: you can see shadows on the body! You can see strands of hair, and intricate design. Anime-style tends to... leave out the details. Hopefully those were clear enough examples :what:

I wasn't obsessed with anime and manga when I started playing Mabinogi. It really wasn't that much of a deal to me. Even now, when I love anime and manga, I don't really see what the big deal is since I see no difference in the game.

I'm kind of neutral when it comes to anime/manga. I ever so rarely read or watch it, but normally because it's something a friend tells me to do to understand something they said (like a joke). I don't hate or love it, but there are some things about anime/manga that i dislike, such as certain art styles and the plot lines.

I don't play mabi anymore but when i did, i didn't mind the art.
