  When I plug in S3 bow upgrade versus R3 bow upgrade (now in hylian's equation) I get 362.
  
  I know it is hard to reach this much average, or even max damage, using a bow outside of transform/spotlight, so I honestly suggest overupgrading bows of more than one type. Up to you how much crit should be on each one... but you will want to crit atleast 30% with your R-type, and it may only be effective to use during transform/spotlight... which would greatly change the suggested upgrade paths. (Or your R-type may be max damage upgraded for use with crash shot/elven magic missle/huge crit bonuses in trans/whatnot.)
  I know it takes up a lot of inventory space, so don't be afraid to stick over-upgraded weapons in your bank tab.
  
  
  Also, eventhough I feel Hylian's equation is not shown in its simplest proof form, I would like to confirm that after alteration--referencing "http://i54.tinypic.com/2n0pj84.jpg" and Hylian/Justinishere guidance--it becomes identical.

  [which apparantly, though unknown to me beforehand, is equivalent to (Smin * 0.2 + Smax * 1.25) Now I see why though, as weighting minimum damage by 20% and adding it to max damage weighted by 80% would substitute as average damage. Thanks for the help refining my Mathsicles; I think Hylian's special-upgrade equation is really clean looking after realizing where the Smax*1.25 comes from.]

  Below is my updated equation.
  
  (average with s) + (crit bonus w/ s) = (crit bonus w/ r) + (Average damage)
  
  avg + S avg. + 0.45(max+S max.) = 0.3(max)(1.5+r) + Avg.
  
  (S avg.) + 0.45max + 0.45(S max) = 0.45(max)+0.3r(max)
  
  (S avg.) + 0.45 (S max) = 0.3r(max)

  18.8 + 9.45 = 0.3(0.26)(max)
  
  28.25 = .078(max)

  I feel... silly... asking this, unfortunately it's not really clearly specified anywhere. When determining where you stand in relation to the break-even point, is the "max damage" the actual red damage numbers you're doing against mobs or the damage range on your character sheet? I personally wouldn't begin to know how to get my character-sheet damage range into the 300s.
