  Just tried using Vales Shield and Defense against Staff attacks and the 100% damage reduction does NOT apply.

  Both at once? Ego > G20 Divine Tribolt (but beats ego in versatility of course) > Savage Fire (but beats the above for blazing)
  
  Just bolts, celtic tribolt is slightly above a savage, but loses outright to g20.
  
  Just fireballs, I'd go druid staff, but that's not a wand and I assume you want something you can use with an eagle mask?

  Actually, Celtic Tribolt still beats out G20, and is not "slightly above" a Savage Fire Wand. In fact, there is a pretty sizable gap. Ego beats out Celtic Tribolt slightly. In terms of versatility though, G20 wand is the way to go. Savage is still the king for blaze.

  I assume the rumor comes from this reddit comment by the name of xKennyz. Contrary to this guy's statement, Celtic version is not outclassed, and will still be used. It still will be the best cost-to-performance ratio, as well as being the second best wand for firebolt. My view is that if you're gonna fireball, just go use a staff and get a Celtic wand for firebolt.

  Well damn. Gotta put that on my list of stuff to get.
  Also, several of us did mention that if it could cast int magic, chances are it wont CC it because it'd be fucktardedly OP. It would still be baller that it could cast int magic altogether.

  When have us players ever been able to chain cast int magic outside of Snap Cast? Never, and even though DevCAT's pretty infamous for overpowering stuff, I don't really see it happening anytime soon.
  
  Given that Renovation made int magic casting speed incredibly fast to the point where they potentially may take less than one second to cast (as ironwoman showed), adding CC onto it would make Magic ridiculously broken.

  There used to be a rare chaincast bug where you'd actually occasionally chaincast int magic with a CC wand.
