LOL I didn't learn crap in school health classes. All we ever learned was the routine "don't do drugs", and every once in a while, they would mention a "balanced diet" without explaining what that even was.
California, at least, has updated their standards. Its required for every 9th grader to take at least one semester on it, and they are tested on their knowledge.

Sure high fructose corn syrup isn't good for you, but we'd be pretty screwed without it.
There are just so many uses.
Just make sure you keep your intake low. You can't ban it anytime soon anyways, and its everyone else's fault for thinking its harmless.
Awareness is increasing, thankfully, so most people know by now that corn syrup isn't a "safe" replacement for sugar. Its just sugar.

High Fructose Corn Syrup = Sugar from Corn. That is literally the meaning of the name.
Is that really so bad?
Aspartame has been under review many times, and it ended up being safe when consumed in moderate amounts. If a person chooses to eat tons of unhealthy, (and since it is a sugar substitute) sweets, then it is his/her decision against their health already.
EDIT: Vitamin supplements have no effect if you eat a balanced diet. Supplements are exactly their namesake. Though there is proof and evidence that Vitamins are good for the body, there is no proof that taking any amount over the 'recommended value' is good for you.
(It is very easy to actually get this recommended value, also.)
:/
Sugar and hfcs are similar, but HFCS especially, is some really bad stuff. Insulin resistance and increased cravings adds to america's already serious obesity issue. The main problem is that they add it in everything, especially with such high levels in soda.
aspartame isn't as bad. The main problem is that you taste sweet, your body expects energy, but the brain gets none- so it promotes cravings. Ironically they can make you gain weight in that respect. Not to mention it can be addictive, but a ton of things can be,
as for vitamins, it's hit and miss honestly.. but i'd suggest vitamin D and calcium as a supplement since it's so vital to bone health and prevents cancer. It's really important to eat the right foods, but it'd be a blatant lie to say that people eat the right foods to get all the vitamins and minerals they need every day.

You're telling me that no one showed you the Food Pyramid in school?

So, they say their mix includes 88% of what the USDA classifies as meat.
And, apparently they only need 40% of actual meat for it to be classified as so.
In total, they only need .88*.40=.352, or 35.2%, of real meat in their tacos, according to their reasoning.
So, I guess you could say the first article had the right figure.

You eat it, it tastes good, you don't get sick or suffer from any virus.
Whats the problem here?

america's low low food standards
long term consequences of eating processed, hormone filled food
immediate gratification driven society
probably.
i wouldnt be surprised if there was HFCS in there.

I like Taco Bell. I enjoy my real Mexican food more but sometimes there's no time for that. I've never gotten ill from Taco Bell, either.

Well, it might be "unhealthy" but its definitely not "poisonous" or "dangerous" on the level that people exaggerate they are.
My friend is living proof of this. He has taco bell for lunch and dinner every day. He has for the past few years. He's perfectly fine.
Maybe he'll die a good 10 or 20 years earlier than the rest of us.
But that diet hasn't stopped him from doing anything we normally do yet.

Fake meat is bad news for me because I'm allergic to soy.
Anyways, soy has lots of isoflavones which is estrogen :p Too much estrogen means being moody and having a higher risk of getting cancer.

And yet everyone urges for more soy consumption saying it leads to reduced risks of heart diseases.
Its a trade off.

soy is a bit of a love hate relationship, but it's definitely great for you in moderation. but processed soy should be avoided.
it can promote breast cancer growth, since it acts like an agonist to the cancerous cells in the same way regular estrogen does.
moderation is key *_*
