  My name sorta looks out of place to me, but I forgot to save a .psd of this one, so I can't do much about it. I don't really like how I did on this one :/

  That's sorta what I was aiming for, but I got lazy and the updates were finished installing, thus repeatedly annoying me with a pop up asking me to restart.

  I always like your sigs, but I feel let down this time. For shame, Pika.
  
  I'd offer some friendly criticism, but I don't really have any specifics...I mostly dislike the second one. I think it's the fact that it looks like the colors are all inverted (not sure if they really are), and I only like that on very rare occasions. And the first one looks like a pencil drawing looks when it gets smudged, up there in the left part of the cherry blossoms. Actually, I think Merry looks kind of smudgy too.

  For the first one Merry is smudged, or at least two of the duplicated layers are. Did that so it can fit in slightly more with the background, which is unaltered.
  
  The second one as I said before, was supposed to be in a more sepia tone to cancel out the inverted colors, but didn't come out that way. Too lazy to fix that issue, guess I might actually fix it if I ever use it.
  
  Both sigs I didn't use any brushes on.

  for retaining layer effects i think flattening the image works best.
  you could always just wash it with a sepia tone i guess. or just mess with adjustments.

  The first one looks like a regular render put on a background with a smudged render on top.
  
  It's not your best sig in terms of effects and such, but the flow and the colour works very well.
  
  
  
  The second sig is a bit harsh, especially the red lines. The colours don't look like they belong there and the lines are too hard.
  
  Also, what was the original render/background for that one?
