but Am stuck on the grim reaper, I have only really leveled combat skills like bash, and combat mastery. so far I cannot find a way to get him even half way down...
Am level 29, and use a dagger and bastard sword....

Grim reaper has three attacks. Just look at him carefully while attacking and see what he does.
1) If he goes into the ground, run in any direction; doesn't matter if it's even towards where he was; Just run in the direction where you can run most.
2) If he spins and pulls his scythe overhead, just sidestep to avoid his vertical swing
3) If he spins and pulls his scythe around himself, just go behind him to avoid his horizontal swing.
At your rank, I would suggest putting yourself on auto mode and continuously slashing at him until he dies. Good luck!

I did it even on Basic with a newb character at total level 20 with short swords. Get fast hitting swords, and when he does his slashes, move away from the direction he is facing in/about to slash in with his sickle.
When he is staying still with all the spirits around him, hit him with NORMAL MELEE and not skills, otherwise you'll get hit.
And don't skip G1, because it's fairly easy to do and worth it for both the enchant and the Journal Points. Just be sure to get reliable friends as filler ins for the RPs in G1 and the final dungeons as well. You can put Goddess on a wooden blade and use it to slap the Grim Reaper with as a replacement for Daggers/Short Swords if you want.

well am a total noob, I dont understand the gear in this game at all , I have been using 2 bastard swords, now i use one dagger and one bastard sword, but am thinking to switch to 2 daggers...
this game is kinda hard to just pick up. theres too much gear with the same stats, yet cost alot more. then others with more stats like def, but cost less...its confusing

It's not necessarily the base stats of a weapon that define it, but it's upgrades. Each time you use a weapon or piece of equipment, it gains proficiency. That proficiency can be used to upgrade your weapon's stats. I suggest Long Swords, Gladii, or Daggers, Bastard Swords for beginners.
