I see nothing wrong either. That Lann probably had one of his spears stuck in his rectum.

sounds like a good ol' case of discrimination. I'd ignore it and move on.
but how come it bothered you so much to make a thread? you know that a lann's opinions of staff evies aren't exactly a bouquet of roses, especially if they're the elitist type.

If he just said that I sucked, or that he hated my guts, I would have dismissed it instantly. But the fact that he generalized, saying I was an example of the overall reason for Evie discrimination bothered me more. I am aware that Staff Evies are somewhat discriminated on, although I still don't know why exactly, but the fact that I was apparently doing something to put me in that (negative) generalization is what bothered me, moreso than him saying I suck.

I hate it when staff evies firebolt because it lags the screen so much I freeze, but that's my computer's problem. Honestly I really like it when a staff evie heals me while I'm battling cause then I can continue to attack without stopping to hp pot or worrying about the boss hitting me while I'm potting. I read on the nexon forums that tons of people hate staff evies though. I guess they'd rather someone do damage than support. x-X

personally i don't expect a staff evie to do much, so if i get any heals at all during a boss fight i appreciate it.

Firebolt.
It's my computer's fault for not having decent grpahic cards, etc. but I seriously hate it.
Somehow, they ALWAYS use it during my Thousand Needles, and somehow, I always lose the finisher.

From everything that I've read, it looks like you didn't do anything terribly wrong. Like what previous posters said, being a good staff Evie takes multi-tasking. Knowing when to and not to firebolt, when to heal, etc. is crucial to being a good staff Evie. However, you have to take into consideration what you want to be good at. A good staff Evie can also be a bad team player, so what do you want to be good at? I'll talk about specific things:
Firebolt
Obviously, many people aren't fond of firebolt because it could cut combos if people lag as well as block other players' views. Be a better team player by firebolting while also taking into consideration other players, not just when it is the best time (because boss is not attacking you or something). Times like this would be when the boss is down and there's enough time for the other players to move away if they don't complete their combo. I find it really annoying when Evies firebolt just because they have shields full when the boss isn't stunned because that makes others lag into getting hit. It may be convenient for you (and even efficient for you), but it might not be for everyone else. I understand this is a really small thing and may be hard to overcome, but it's just something to be aware of.
Healing
A good team staff Evie knows when to heal. Honestly, it's super annoying when you know a staff Evie's only healed you three times and you've potted five times. In easier ruins where you know people won't really get damaged a lot, it's still really nice to see a staff Evie use their runes to heal even if there's barely any damage done, especially when you know you won't be running out of heals in the dungeon. I think this is crucial to do because it gives staff Evies practice on paying attention to the health bars. Too many staff Evies don't pay attention until it's basically too late (meaning the other player dies or they decide to just pot themselves, which also indicates that they don't have any reliance on the staff Evie in the party anymore). To me, waiting until 50% of the health bar is down is a little late because that's probably also when people would pot themselves. You want to show that you're there for them so that they don't have to worry about health when they're in battle. Seriously, no matter how much damage a staff Evie does, I think those that don't heal timely will never get the respect they want. Dealing damage will only make you a good staff Evie, but it won't ever make you as good of a team player as an Evie who just exclusively heals. Bettering your damage will make you a better player, but bettering your healing will make you a better team player.
Golem
I honestly believe that you should always, always ask if golem is ok before you make it if you want to be a team player. Golem really is a pain because it blocks people's views, attacks, and lag some people as well. Not only that but it also forces people to have to adjust to something different which is especially annoying when someone is so used to doing something a certain way. Because timing is crucial in Vindictus, having to readjust to things when you didn't know you were going to have to is frustrating. Asking is just a really nice gesture and also shows that you're taking into account the opinions of others as well as allowing people to adjust to the plan before the battle even starts.
I know this was long and some stuff was repeated, but I wanted to emphasize being a team player because a lot of respect for Evies are from Evies being a good team player. You may have been playing in a way that makes you a good Evie for yourself, but it may not necessarily be good for others.

I definitely agree with this. Too bad I see way more scythe Evies pull this than staffies.

I'm not sure if 'lag' is a good enough reason to justify people not using firebolt when it's available- that's the player's personal problem. I have a pretty crummy laptop myself and would never imagine a staffie holding back her only reliable damage move on one of my faults.

I agree that an inconvenience due to the other user's crappy specs isn't really enough to justify not using firebolt, but that's why I just said just to keep it in mind. Firebolting when the boss is stunned would allow others more than enough time to compensate for the lag most of the time. It's just something to be aware of and possibly even taken into account if you're debating on firebolting and wasting a mana shield or firebolting when boss is stunned.

That is a good point, but also slightly moot, since I'll never know what everyone's configuration is. I personally have a good enough computer that even when multiple staff Evies cast fire ball at the same time, I don't lag in the slightest. However, I could still try to pay attention to the other players' current combo status. Although having never played a non Evie character, I wouldn't be able to tell what is a hard combo to maintain, when the combo ends, and so on.
In addition, my Fire Ball takes about 3-4 seconds to charge. If you decide to start a combo when you see my Fire Ball charging, do you really expect me to stop my Fire Ball so you may do your combo instead? (I'm not saying it happened, just saying it's not necessarily all our (Staffie) fault).

That is a good point. I will try to heal earlier then. I'm just trying not to waste the rune as much as possible, since I lose the rune as soon as part of it is used up.
(For you non-Evies, each rune has 4 uses. Once the 4th is used, the rune count goes down by one. However, if we only healed once, thus have 3/4 of the rune left, by the end of the battle, we will still lose that rune when returning to town/boat.)
Now I don't mind as much for the Renselian Runes, since they're free, but I would rather not waste Healing Runes if I can help it. This point is still valid however, and I will try to be more proactive in healing party members.

I have almost never used a Golem, and (at least lately) I always ask if the others think I should summon one. But I do acknowledge the problem and agree with it.

Don't worry about it. I asked for input, and that's what I got. I am very grateful that you detailed your input so well, as it makes things clearer for me, and points out my flaws as a staffie.
Thank you. :thumb:

As a player that lags with the Firebolt, if you are a large distance away from them, and they cannot directly see it, they won't lag.
Also, they can learn to turn the camera away from the point of firebolt.
(This has led to me turning my head when I lag too much to turn my camera.)
