Good advice. I always just sit there and stare at the pretty huge flashy thing until I get hit. Haha!
Anyways, personally, I love staff Evies (at least those that help with healing, even if it's just a little). I figured I should share the love <3 since people have been feeling they're lacking it.

As a player that lags with the Firebolt, if you are a large distance away from them, and they cannot directly see it, they won't lag.

Unfortunately, I lag so much I can't even turn my screen away. :doom: Fire anywhere is evil!

One guy told me that Staff Evies are crap for doing any damage, and their only purpose is to support through Healing/Resurrecting/etc.
In other words, don't listen to people who tell you that you suck, and don't tell you why. In the case I gave, though, the guy gave a horrible reason. So, yeah.
I'd wear the armor/clothing/etc for Int, use Firebolt on trash mobs when you can get it in (I usually go for the ones that have higher HP, so other characters can just trash through the weaker ones unscathed). I've heard Regeneration is useless, so yeah.
Off topic, but does anyone have thoughts on the usefulness of Golems and Reverse Gravity for Staff Evies?

Everyone is always going to hate on a specific class right now it's Staff Evies, as for Golems they are really useful, they're basically a tank for you they do okay damage, and also are great since after a few hits on the boss they usually get stunned/exhausted. Reverse Gravity is basically a AoE SP skill, with cool graphics, that is all. Also if you don't get most of the monsters in your AoE range for Reverse Gravity your pretty much screwed if your solo and some monsters are unaffected by Reverse Gravity since they weren't in your AoE range.

My personal opinion is that Golems are great against bosses that are relatively medium to big in size (like Chieftain or Red Spider). They are great tanks and they do good damage. They're also useful when there's only a few party members (like 1-2). However, I think they're horrible
in a full party if the boss is relatively small in size (small boss like one of the Ekulochs or Nine Fingers) because the amount of damage they cut due to blocking other members from dealing damage is really horrible. I was just recently in a party with one Scythe Evie and three Fionas. The golem blocked almost all of the Fionas' views and attacks so the three of us ended up just waiting or running around most of the time looking for an opening. It made the battle last so much longer. Granted, it may not be a big problem for other classes because Fionas have the smallest range, but it's still something to consider.

the general consensus is that golems are for PUGs/bad parties and solos.
they have no place in a well organized/skilled party.

I never really understood that. Sure, for bosses that are smaller, I can see the reasoning behind that.
But if you're fighting something huge like Laghodessa or Black Belly, where even if the Golem is right on top of the enemy, there's still a lot of room to swing at the monster, why not have a golem?
Especially for Black Belly. Golems make that fight a cake walk.

I agree, Golems are terrible if it's a non-raid boss/big party. I mean, heck sure I'll summon it if you want me to but it's not such a great idea, sometimes Golems are be more of a hindrance than help. But yeah, for huge bosses/raids Golems are extremely helpful in tanking and helping to stun more often, but they die easier with the new patches these days.

I expect that staffies actually FIGHT the boss instead of running around in the distance, casting golems and spamming attack! and only running in to fireball when the boss is stunned. I do like the heal, and I hate it when a staff evie doesn't heal or bring healing runes.

No.
they hinder gameplay unless it's a PUG/bad party/solo, even if it's a large boss like laghodessa. Actually, if it was lagho, we would kick you for using Golem. The party needs all of its resources towards getting that foo down, not spent idling summoning. the less that's in the way, the better.
I don't know for black belly, i've never summoned a golem there and I've never played with a golem. If you feel the need to have a golem, more power to you.

For Evies, healing isn't a must-get. It's actually one of their lowest priority skills. Evies are not designed to be Heal mules, you should be able to avoid damage on your own enough to where spamHealing isn't needed.
In my experience, battles take much longer when the Lanns/Fionas take so much damage that Evies have to spamheal, than if they spend their time stunning the boss/doing damage in general.
Also, keep in mind that there's a limited number of runes for Healing that Evie can carry into battle. If the party takes too much damage, runes are very quickly consumed, and the party will generally fail.
Bottom line is: Don't go in a party expecting an Evie to spend their time being your Healing mule.

Idly summoning? It takes all of 2 seconds to issue the command, and from there you can just run away and it'll eventually soak up enough pieces on its own to go into attack mode.

Man this depresses me. Are people so dependent on you to do a particular job in these PUGs that your own role is being decided for you? I'm sorry but, I didn't spoil myself like this Lann in the story obviously did. I started this game on a terrible computer with my friends on different schedules than me. Partying with people pretty much flew out of the window. I solo'd every boss up to Blood Prince pretty much every time I played unless I could get in a game with my friends somehow. After the update and Fobellow Prairie was released, I finally had a computer capable of playing alongside other people, and I was thankful even to party with useless people who only served to aggro enemies and make the level complete that much faster, let alone with really helpful team-oriented speed-run types that I've made friends with afterwards. If I have a teammate and its a PUG, I don't expect them to do **** for me. That's just reality. Chances are, they might even go AFK intentionally and leech.
If however I join a team that has a serious perspective to completing a certain amount of runs in a certain amount of time, such as maximizing Free Boat Events or Double AP Events, I will do everything in my power to play a role defined by the needs of the party.
This example took place in a PUG, in a non-raid environment, during regular non-event hours. That guy can shove it, because short of not wanting you to cause trouble, he shouldn't be expecting something specific for you.
P.S. I'm not saying flip off any PUG teammates you have, I'm just saying, they should have REALISTIC expectations. Everyone does their bit as best they can, the game goes by probably with minimal to no conversation and the run ends in 5 to 8 minutes.
