That video is interesting. I'll post the comment I made on the YT vid in here just because I have more to add.
What's the deal with those mana shields? She has more shield icons than we do in NA, and yet it doesn't seem to amount to much, since the archer gnoll was able to take out her shields (and deal damage to her HP) in one charge shot. And this is on normal mode. Dunno how magic shields in Mabinogi Heroes work right now.
Also interesting to see that Firebolt was only doing damage equal to 2~4 Magic Arrows, while Ice Blast only did 3~5 or so Magic Arrows. Seemed to me like Magic Arrow was actually the best DPS spell considering that: you don't need to go into cast mode to use it, you can rapid fire them, they have little delay, they have minimal start up time, they don't block visibility (Firebolt), they won't slow down your computer (Ice Blast), range on them is easy to gauge and you can stop-shoot-run-stop-shoot-run with them.
I'm sure those numbers are likely to change once skills are involved, but only time will tell I guess.

Her Fireball is really weak now comparing to original Evie, and Magic Arrow was always Evie's main DPS. It looks like she can do more now since with her new dodge, it looks like a turn in a good direction.

Well of course Magic Arrow was Evie's main DPS spell pre-revamp; it was her only real attack spell other than Firebolt.

I dont know how accurate those numbers are, but remember that magic arrow is not an AoE as well as the fact that the skill book levels scale differently, and that she is low level.

Over time, I believe Staff Evie's best (repeatable) option is Magic Mine used in combination with a couple of normal attacks (to begin stamina regeneration again). Currently Magic Arrow just takes so much stamina to use to be effective for DPS.
One thing I did notice in the video is that Magic Arrow clearly takes much less stamina to use (as does Firebolt) in the revamp.

Mana shields were only truly effective against trash mobs, allowing Evie to setup a Firebolt whenever the mobs' positions were good and simply absorb a few blows with shields. They were never good at absorbing boss blows, especially smashes. Typically you get 1 free hit (regardless of how many shields are up), at a cost of all the shields remaining. You'll notice that the archer fires 4 arrows in that attack. I'm not sure that 2 arrows struck though, so possibly the mechanics have changed for the Korean server.

Either way Mana Shields get raped with bosses in higher boats regardless, yeah it seems like Evie needs less mana now in order to cast spells, which is fitting because she is the class with the lowest stamina. No need Dawn Rings anymore~ Just can't wait for this re-vamp she'll be fun to play and spam arrows and Fireball~

AoE ability is only a factor in multi-boss fights, and even still, I don't think it's been stated whether or not Evie will be able to get Fine Magic Arrow again. Sure, AoE is nice for trash mobs... but those are trash mobs. I guess in Ep 8, AoE, or at least, the freezing AoEs, will be much more important.

Well yes, but when I'm at full magic shields, even if I take a hit from a boss while casting Firebolt, the damage won't often bleed through to my HP (it's been awhile since I went staff though) unless it's one of their stronger attacks. And I don't think that gnoll archer boss is even capable of hitting you with multiple arrows in one shot, unless it was at point blank, which it wasn't. Looked like he only got hit by one arrow to me.

Agreed. :thumb:
I've often thought that I'd sacrifice some of the ridiculous destructive nature of the Firebolt to be able to cast it more often. It seems in the video that it's possible to pull off the Firebolt spell a little faster than it works now, too.

Staff Evie Revamp, lv 30 test server gameplay
Afk says:
"3.3k damage.
I've got all the new skills except for blind arrow and mana pistol.
there's still alot of glitches here and there and some stuff that no one's sure if it is intended to be the way it is. like magic arrow losing it's homing ability.
some skills are also not working at all and there seems to be a need for some number tweaking or else staff is still going to be heavily reliant on magic arrow during boss fights."

Well at least Magic Arrow consumes less Stamina, and that you don't even have to hop every single time to save stamina. Also, I would like to see Mana Pistol in action, also Mana Amber is such a life saver, yay for more survivability! And also the new dodge is not that bad too, anyways pre-vamp or re-vamp Evie's main DPS will always be Magic Arrow, I believe skills like Fireball and Ice Spear do need a little more damage, they're really weak right now, and also, Firemine seems more useful now rather having to run then charge in order to get one.

In that last vid, her spell-casting aura counted as a smash, since it hit a lootable corpse and popped the evil core out.
Huh.
Also, they need to make Mana Ember cooldown-based. It doesn't seem to cost that much (looked like less than half the stam bar to me), considering what it does, and it doesn't seem like being thrown around is entirely a disadvantage.

Does blink or slip dash have a cooldown? I don't think so
and plus as soon as she is hit and stops moving from the hit she automaticly pop's out. It's still a dodge for her in the game to cope with the lowest survivabillity rate
