SNIPED BY PHUNKIE AND I AGREE WITH WHAT PHUNKIE HAS TO SAY
okay so i'm late to the party harharhar anyways.
from what I gather, coy posted some artwork that mods think is naughty?
well, too bad. art is pretty much designed to express yourself, and I have no problem if people want to post artwork that has nudity and whatnot. NUDITY =/= PORN. also, pretty sure coy has warnings in her thread, because I know when I was looking through it there were warnings about drawings that could be NSFW. little kiddies choose to ignore the warnings, boo hoo. too bad.
granted, I definitely don't remember people groveling for 'mature conversation', but i'm cool with that. I also think a 16+ mature section would honestly solve all of these issues [no i'm not saying this because I turn 16 tomorrow; regardless of people's maturity 16 is a reasonable age where you can expect at least a CERTAIN amount of understand as far as these topics go].
also @coy&cide, I hope you stay plox. not only do I love your guys's art, you really shouldn't have to leave over something like this.

Quote from Cide;362417:
so, it's totally okay to ask a minor about their sexual habits is what you're saying?
Absolutely not. The discussions members partake of in these forums are all consensual unless one member is trying to start some sort of trouble by aggressively disagreeing. Discussions held in these forums are the same as any sort of conversation two parties may have in real-life. Should both parties be okay with it, then it shall be talked over. Should one not like the idea, then it's left alone. Common sense.
Asking a minor about their sexual habits is one thing. It's your life on the line. Forcing them to discuss it with you is a whole 'nother ballgame. You're dead.

All I'm seeing is that the problem with posting nudity is that there are young children on this forum.
If posting pictures with nudity isn't allowed, then talking about it should not be allowed either.
It's "either or, neither nor" not "one or the other".
Also, as everyone says there is a difference between out right porn and nudity.
Many deviantArtists seem to have a problem with this distinction, but here on the Nation, we are much more aware.
Editing a picture of its most devious points helps in many a case.
If the picture is too "mature", then the artist here has the decision whether or not to link an interested person privately.

as of right now, neither are allowed until fal comes and decides what to do with it. this, as far as i'm concerned, is acceptable.

also, I see that some of the more 'mature' discussions were locked for no given reason.
what gives? just because of one little thing?

I'm with this.
However, from a realistic vantage point, discussion will be nearly impossible to keep out. It's been on these forums since the near-beginning. Saying "no noodz" shouldn't be too hard at this early stage.

It was locked for this 'reason';
Quote from Arsik;362372:
You know what? Until Fal gets here to settle things, I'm just going to go ahead and just put a ban on all things sexual from now on. And unless Fal decides to make a mature section or to go over my head and allow mature discussion again, we will now just go ahead and severely infract/flat out ban people for making topics/posts related to such things. I'll be going and locking all open threads related to anything sexual, so that we don't have to deal with it.
I've said before, and the rest of the staff has said as well, that discussions of mature topics are fine if the topics are taken seriously and maturely, and will be closed if it starts to get out of hand, but the direct posting of the images isn't. People saying "Parents don't want their children to read things about this nature" have a pretty flawed argument about this by saying that the parents are looking over the child's shoulder. A parent looking over their kid's shoulder while s/he's reading a thread about masturbation isn't as likely to get the kid in trouble, since at most, the parent is only going to skim over what the text says. An image that has a penis that's pretty focused on, both by having the post practically point to it and having the penis be pretty darn close to the center of the image will without a doubt get the kid in trouble. That's why text isn't as harmful as an image.
The only reason that I'm saying that we're now a no mature topic forum again is because Fal has said time and time again that there isn't going to be a mature section, so I'm going by that to just plain out outlaw anything sexual related, kay? Everyone happy now that the threat of ban hammers looming over their heads because they can't just go "fine, mature topics are fine if handled maturely, but images of the same nature aren't" and moved on with it, we wouldn't have to revoke your rights to have a mature discussion on things. We hate to do this, but you guys leave us no choice. Sorry.

I'm curious as to why Fal doesn't want to add a mature section.
Because people are going to lie about their age to get in? That's seriously all I can think of...
People would mention it outside of the mature forum? lolwut.

Not even reading everything, too much drama.
I want people of all ages from 13+ to be able to enjoy this forum.
13 year olds can't be seeing the same stuff older folks would enjoy so the forum itself needs to stay clean. At the same time I do want all the mature stuff to be allowed here as long as it's kept proper.
Only solution I see is a forum for 16+ where all the mature discussions and art would go. So I'll be setting up a hidden forum section no one can see unless I put them in the proper permission group. Which will be done manually if you can either prove you're 16+ or if I've seen you on the forum enough to judge that you're at the right maturity level.
Start PMing requests to access the section, it'll be set up later today along with an announcement and rules for it.

FFF. I love you. I was about to go and make a thread suggesting a mature section, since I've seen it at other places too. I'll go send a PM in a bit.

It's because people are over-anal hypocrites who love double standards, hun.~
That itself is the problem though.
The "line" becomes ambiguous, and therefore its usually a safe call to just rule it out overall.
