First of all, this guide is not just about wands, guys. But i am currently working on info for wands so bear with me...
Have you ever thought about being a mage? Have you ever decided it'd be a waste of time shooting lightning everywhere? Or are you the type who'd love to be able to cast any spell you'd like? Maybe you're a veteran at mabi and you just are surfing threads and saw this. Well, I'd like to help encourage you in some of the magical arts.
Basics
Ice bolt, Fire bolt, Lightning bolt: basic elemental magicks. Although they aren't required to learn Magic Mastery skills (Lightning Mastery, Fire Mastery, Ice Mastery, Magic Mastery), they are highly recommended for the practicing mage. Many people stop after ice bolt class or skip all the classes just to buy the Lightning bolt skillbook. Please, do NOT do this if you are serious about becoming a mage. It is your benifit to spen the entire 15k to learn all the bolt magicks. Not only do you get the skills, you get an additional MP boost for every completed class and every magic skill you learn.
Races and magic:
As you may anticipate, Elves have more MP and thusforth more of an advantage at magic. Sadly, Elves are terrible at Melee leaving them vulnerable between thos crucial times whilst preparing the spell. Humans on the other hand can be a Melee/Magic hybrid, leaving them with more strength and physical power, but less power in there actual spell casting. Giants can be very succesful mages, they just have a little less MP. As a summation, Elves make better pure mages, Humans could be hybridized to increase caster strength, and Giants start ut with a little less MP.
Basic Mistakes Made By Begginers
Magic is not a great skill for those just starting Mabinogi. It's best you stick with your basic combat style, until you have enough AP and good skill ranks. As an elf, i originally wanted to go pro in Ranged. Thankfully, this helps me when I'm cornered. If i can't wait the few seconds to cast the spell, I shott off two or three arrows until they are too far away to attack me. That is the crucial point when I attack with a lightning bolt. Basicly what i'm saying is raise a combat skill that isn't Magic to begin with. i.e. Ranged, Melee...
Alchemy and Magic are NOT the same thing. If someone tells you this, they are probably stupid. Alchemy involves having an actual weapon and ammunition whereas Magic only takes its MP and you don't need a weapon (usually).
Yes, magic can be exspensive (i say that loosely), but money can be easier to obtain than you think. You don't NEED the gear that pro mages have, but it helps.
Economic advantages
Magic can definantly be a benifit to he Mabinogi economy. You guys probably know this, but Alexinia is in an economic depression. But, like always, Nexon releases new items, making items people used to want and buy at high demand have lower prices. Magic is good for this reason because you yourself can stimulate the economy by selling MP potions to mages, or buying them from begginers (who we can all agree, take slightly longer to get gold than the higher margin of players). You can also save money by not being required to have a weapon (while i still recommend you do). Sadly for this reason however, magic equipment may be costly and discourage any apprentice mage (much like i was discouraged).
Just remember, if you quit magic because of the price and take up alchemy, you will pay more for the skill in the end. Don't get me wrong, alchemy is a great skill, it just may be a tad more difficult for the beggining player.
I'd like to apologize to the Giant mages. I should've researched more before I posted. And remember, you don't have to hybridize. I'll be expanding this little intro to magic soon. This is Kuro kayshi of Alexinia wishing you luck in your adventures!

Only correction is you can't shoot 3 arrows as an elf. You shoot in 2s so it would be 4. :3
Good little intro to magic though. I'm practically a pure Human Mage though. Don't hate.

Well, first, you might want to do a spelling and grammar check.
Otherwise, it's a nice intro, like Pride said. No new information that I didn't know, but still helpful for beginners.
Although, it could use some more organization, like lines between the sections and a proper list of all the main magic skills.
All in all, not bad, and welcome to the Nation!

So this is what people do in class...
I guess it is better than playing computer games in class... maybe.

Ooo, that was nice. Helpful for beginners! Just maybe check for typos next time. XD
Do you plan on expanding this guide any time soon?

I do plan on expanding it as I do more with magic. I'm sorry for all the typos. I typed really fast so my teacher wouldn't see me haha. Anyways, I do plan on trying the magic shields out when I get more AP and hopefully some of the magic equips (wands, robes, ect) and hopefully (when I get them) the effects trans' have on your magic. If you need a guide that has mathematic equations and multipliers, look up trigger. His guide helped me to continue my Mage skills and create this guide :)

I'm not sure how Vejosa's going to react to that Giant comment.
(I'm quite sure she was/still is a giant mage)

Giants are perfectly capable of using magic, the only problem giants face is mana usage and lower MP/int which can be fixed very easily. Also keep in mind it isn’t always MP and Int that make you a good mage, but other stats as well including, HP/Will/Luck (maybe not dex) 3 stats which giants have more of than the other two races.
As said above giants have more will than the other two races so this means our critical hit ratio is higher than an elf or a Human mage. How does this affect Magic? It affects your bolt critical hit rate, your Hailstorm Critical hit rate, and your Fusion Magic Critical hit rate on High protection mobs. Also critical+ enchants that a human or elf mage would invest in a giant can invest in on other enchants (Mana + enchants?)
Giants also have extra tricks which they can do which separate them further from elf and human mages. Such as being able to use charge with Trinity staff, Trinity Staff + Throw attack Counter, Stomp+Blaze, Windguard+blaze, Windguard Defending in Mana Shield, Trinity Charge thunder, etc etc etc.
I'll work on a Giant Mage guide in the future...with videos.

Welcome to Nation~ x3
Things I want to point out...
1) You're apparently trying to advocate the use of wands. Simply list some of the benefits!
2) Also list some of the bad things about using wands. Including high repair costs, lose mana when unequipped, etc.
3) Numbers. Don't just say, "Icebolt damage is increased with an Ice Wand". DUH!! Say something like, "Icebolt damage is increased by 5% with an Ice Wand at rank 5" or something. Make sure you have significant data to back it up
4) Stay on topic with what you want to say. The title makes you seem like you advocate wand use, but you went off into Races, "Economic Advantages", and Basic Mistakes (that is not much related with wand usage)
Otherwise, I expect a better guide from you. Considering you were diligent to add headings, I can see that you're rather dedicated with creating guides for other players. Keep it up =)
