So, I'm installing a new game right?
Well, why does vista take forever to make the prompt/install game buttons to load?
We need specs to help. Try rebooting first, then looking at running applications, and cutting down on the excess applications.
Non-Help: Windows isn't that great in general. It's only useful if you need to run a specific application. *is Linux Mint user*
I've tried those things.
And every vista in my house does this, so it isn't just mine :v
but you don't know that for sure unless you test on a clean windows 7 and xp. it could very well be an outside program that you have on all your computers, and even then it could be the program itself that's not compatible. like i said at least give the name of what you are trying to install.
He's trying to install on Vista: He is unlikely to have XP or W7. Unless an outside program has a memory leak, or is prioritized for CPU usage, it wouldn't really effect an install (Its unlikely he'd be running a lot of programs if he's doing a fresh install of anything).
uh yea that was my point, he doesn't actually know that it's solely a Vista problem.
and i'm sure you know what his program and his computer looks and feels like, right?
you are very sure that it's not a x64 compatibility problem, antivirus/firewall blocking, a non-admin account (uac problem), game installer problem, corrupted download, or that it the program is old and made before vista and needs compatibility mode to function. you don't even know if his screen freezes or not; if the button literally takes "forever" (ie infinite amount of time) to (never) load or that it just takes a long time, or if the dialog even appears at all, or if he has the same hardware on all computers.
it's funny how you are blaming it on hardware without even knowing what hardware he has. if you know it please tell us.
if the op was tech savvy, and made a complain-about-vista thread, your post doesn't really help either, because there is no fixable problem (you offered no solution, this is a tech support thread), and whatever OP said was rhetorical. I laughed when you try to replied to posts of nothingness and said i was raging. Am i an idiot or am i pretending to be one to get to you to reply? ;) Or am i just saying this to hide my idiocy and raeg?
OS Elitism is pointless. Linux has just as many flaws as Windows, if not more due to the lack of certain productivity features. Its main saving grace is the customization factor, which is useless to most users of the system. And don't even spout 'security', because its just as insecure out of the box as Windows, just less people care to put the time and/or effort into cracking it.
