Most of forum ppl might've already noticed some people abuse on signature size. It doesn't affect me on my bandwidth however its annoying to see the page suffering constant resizes because someone thought it was a good idea to put one widescreen wallpaper as signature
If image hosters allow it someday we'll have someone with a .png signature over 5mb with over 5kx5k on size, ok nation has the image auto resizing script but that isn't enough since viewers still have to load every single pic in the pages before they're resized.
inb4howdoiresize
paint, every pc has it, use it.
Dont like paint?
use gimp
Dont like both?
try photoshop demo

If you find someone that has an oversize signature, PM a mod and they will follow up on the issue.

Its something that needs to be common sense and not to be secretly done through PMs as if it was something taboo

Yes, I know that. Some people just change it even if they know how, they need to be told to.

thank goodness we can automatically make sigs a certain size, right?

TinyMo wrote on 2011-05-30 12:30
I just turn all sigs off.

I personally don't see why people would WANT over sized sigs, I mean even I would get tired of looking at my own if it were over sized.

^This
I come here to read forum posts, not over-sized sigs that take up more pixel space than meaningful content.

Remember you can select a maximum signature size in your account settings, so it automatically crops people's signatures at your desired height.

Max signature height (in pixels):
The maximum height shown for signatures (in posts only). To disable signatures completely, uncheck the "Show Signatures" option from the general settings higher up on this page. Select "Full" to
sow the entire signature regardless of height.

also, paint.NET is good for resizing and basic editing, better than gimp IMO

The size options people can choose.
all images get auto-resized to a max of around 480ish pixels wide, in posts or sigs.

Oh, thank you, Osayidan. I found it weird that there were no "rules" about the size for sigs, but it makes more sense that people have those options. ^^
