What does healer have to do with Lightning Shield?
You might as well just said "having your life saved by the mage using a lgihtnnig shield on you after you got shot by a thunder in peaca.. it feels good.".
It makes more sense for a mage to have high ranked lgihtnnig shield. Although, having tons of people spamming their rF lgihtnnig shield would have saved the person.
Most Healers put themselves into a "support" role. Magic shields are part of support, thus they should rank them. Also, it doesn't hurt to have the mana from them.
If Healers want to be pure healers, they should include all forms of support. Since most of them don't fight at all, the least they can do is rank support skills to help the party.

Well tikka wand does add some great mana reduction along with trinity set. So they can use cheap costing lb,fb,ib, and blaze 8D.

I rather invite another damage character than a healer who is just using the healing skill alone. You better be busy clicking the mouse like the rest of us.

I'm a healer and I don't fight because I'm constantly draining my mana over those in combat.I can't understand why I'd be hated for doing something good, nonetheless, being thrown unknowingly into the 'leecher' category.I just hate seeing people lose exp from revivals and having to spend money on feathers.

death exp penalty and feather cost seems small around adv to hm level. Can easily make it up after killing one or two mobs, feather becomes dirt cheap but you dont want to flood your nventory with like 8+ feathers.
What matters the most are equipment blessings

Healers are magic users to begin with..
Then, if they are magic users with all those magic skills, why have them just sit there just to heal?

By that logic, Support Shot would be a very good form of support right? It even has the word "Support" on it! Technically, the other non-healers are providing support too. They are supporting in clearing the room faster while the Healer isn't.
Of course, this would change if the supposed "Healer" also have a variety of r1 combat type skills, and just does Healing whenever is really "needed". (Secret Missions)

You could look at the OTHER games that have healers and say "Well, they're not doing damage, just keeping the damage dealers alive, so they're not helping take down monsters".
They're helpful in a different way.
Though, then there's Rift where the "healer" class heals through damage. :p That's interesting to me.
Or maybe I'm arguing the wrong point.
Or maybe it's arguing the point at all that is wrong...
Support shot is pretty useful, though.
Mostly on things that are generally best dealed with melee/single enemies.
But I feel as though I haven't actually said something relevant yet, since I'm still not sure I've got the right point. :S

Most MMO Healers also have damage abilities, so I don't know where this "other games" idea is coming from.
In Mabi, however, a Healer cannot do both powerful healing and adequate damage at the same time.
Without a wand, Healing costs are doubled and Party Healing is unusable. Even if you're only healing 2 people, Party Healing has a higher HPS (heal per second), and with only 4 people it has a higher mana efficiency. Aside from duos and maybe trios, Party Healing is required.
With a Healing Wand, Bolt Fusion is unusable, Intermediate Magic is unusable, Hailstorm is unusable, Blaze damage is mediocre. Magic is crippled, and melee damage with a 14 max 15 crit weapon is also pretty insignificant.
IMO, Hybridization in party play is bad. I want my Healers healing, my Warriors using melee, and my Rangers using range. It's much more efficient to have people play the role that they're the most skilled and geared for. And you can't gear for multiple roles, because each is optimized with a different setup, you'd be sacrificing something for versatility which is unneeded in a diverse party.

Well, if you look at other games like Maplestory, the "healer" class once did the most damage, and were the fastest leveling class compared to all other classes.

Too bad Healing in this game doesn't hurt undead and ghost type enemies.
/insert Healing Wand only Holy Adv Magic

Agreed, though for the cases when you have too many people of a certain specialization and too few of another one, some alch hybridization is a huge help at filling in the gaps.

Unless you're running a secret mission, healing can be useful..."healers" are worthless. Simply drinking a health potion will eliminate a healers usefulness. Wounds are quickly recovered with a decent first aid rank between rooms. I don't want someone leeching experience and drops (especially those healers with the nerves to ask for payment or call themselves "pro").
Healers don't deal damage and they rarely (if ever) keep agro off the group. If you want to whip out r1 first aid/healing/party healing and take care of your party members...that's one thing. If you're one of those one-trick ponies that's helpless when other characters are knocked out, stay away from my party.
