There's two worlds
Erinn and Tir Na Nog. You start the game in Erinn, G1 consists in the search for the so called paradise, Tir Na Nog. The Other World is what is called TNN among the players, what you find when you cross the portal between worlds, is that that paradise is not really a paradise, because Eirinn IS actually the paradise (Tir Na Nog), the place that Erinn residents think isn't a paradise, is actually that place promised by Morrighan, that's what mr dragon on your screenshot is saying.
In Vindictus is the other way around, except they are right in thinking where they live is not Paradise. And they call Paradise Erinn.
It's a bit confusing, since everything is called differently in each game. By strictly following the Celtic mythology, Tir Na Nog is the actual name for Paradise, what is called Erinn in both Vindictus and Mabinogi. So in Mabinogi they have everything wrong, that's not the right name and it is paradise, while in Vindictus they just have the name wrong, and are aware that is Paradise. But, according to the mythology, Tir Na Nog is one of the other worlds. So calling The Other World, TNN, is correct and specifies which Other World, but looking at the bigger picture, TNN or that Other World, is "Erinn".
There are actually 3 Other Worlds in celtic mythology, Tir Na Nog, Mag Mell and Tir Na Mbeo. But those 3 could have actually all referred to the same place, which is another confusing part of the Celtic Mythology.

hell if im going to run black pass dungeon, but i think i remember the locked door at the end of that barri version says to tir na nog
This, and the map on Portal even said Tir Na Nog as well.

@Bakuryu A bit confusing, but yes, that's what most people don't get.
@Zeo and Chromatic I think I should explain this, but the screenshot is saying the truth; "Another World" is the name for that alternate world, although it might have another name. The "Tir Na Nog" at the end of Barri dungeon is there because the character at that time thinks he is going to Tir Na Nog. Wouldn't it be weird for the door leading towards "heaven" to be named "hell"?
I wish it would update though, kinda like not seen Ruari's brother after you finish G2, or the rain stopping after you finish G1.
Also the Dragon in my screenshot pretty much says it all. Accept it or be ready to be NOMMED like Claimh Solas did!! Muahahahaha.
:awesome:

Plus like other people said, we're used to calling it TNN because it's shorter way, and do not bring that AW thing up, it's shorter way, yes, but we're not used to it so people will still call Other World TNN.

Because, if you haven't noticed a large population of the Mabinogi community are complete morons.
Quote from Xemnas;492089:
most people skip g1 and skim through g2 for trans and skip g3
That and the community is mostly made of idiots. (mabination only counts for, at most, 15-20% of the mabinogi community)
Um.

Tir Chonaill (Another World) is also referred to as Tir Na Nog in Generation 1, Generation 2 and through most of Generation 3. It is situated in a universe which parallels Erinn and is a ghost town populated by zombies and wild critters. In the past, during a frenzy of confusion and panic amidst a mass invasion of Fomorians, many had lost their lives while defending the settlement.
We need to stop calling people idiots and morons when we ourselves don't even know what we're talking about.

@Zeo *cough* In the U.S. people are used to the "
American system", which is useless and outdated compared to metric. So....using something more efficient would stop people like me from wasting everyone's time. It's a win/win situation. :D
Sorry, Phigga, I stole the example from one of your threads. :<
@Phigga You forgot Pikablu's comment. Selective reading?:o

Lol I know that they call "Another World" as TNN but I'm just too lazy to call it that.
Besides, TNN has become commonplace language for "Another World", I don't think there's gonna be a time where I call "Another World" as Erinn or something. That'd just be so confusing.

I don't think that anyone really cares about the specifics of the story, they would just skim it to do the other Generations. Or they could've done it such a long time ago that they don't even remember anymore.
Like me, I don't remember the storyline anymore when I was interested in Mabinogi so much.
Although, even people introduced to the game would probably skim through it as well and still call it TNN. xD

I guarantee that wiki blurb Phigga linked was added by someone who skipped the first few gens or decided to keep that one page spoiler-free. Considering the amount of Cichol-worship the playerbase has, it's a damn big oversight not to know one of the major things he accuses Morrighan of at the end of C1.
@Ryoko: If people didn't care, there wouldn't be the occasional but lengthy threads discussing Mabi continuity. I'll admit, a lot of people don't. But there are a considerable amount of people who do, as evidenced in this thread and others.

:P Next time when we pick someone up on our mounts to take them to TNN, we should just let them on, then kick them off and say "We've arrived at our destination!"

That's so cruel if they actually paid for it.

Well that DID get what they asked for...
Besides, I've never received pay for doing that xD

Ah, I totally missed that. I thought it meant something along the lines of "It was called like that because the player at that time didn't know Tir Na Nog was really Erinn". My bad, thank you for clarifying :D
@Mentos & Ryoko This is the birth of a new scam. :XD:

For a long time, everyone thought it was TNN (because updates were so slow) and then when people did find out, it was considered common courtesy for a while to avoid spoilers. I remember one person on my team who had already finished, warning me to "tell no one" xD
Now, people don't care about the story, but the abbreviation is too ingrained to be changed.

This; it's also habit for many of the players to use TNN to refer "Other World"
And also... when I go to Baol, or we're talking about Baol... I refer "Other World" in Bangor as "TNN Bangor"
