I'm sure you guys know of the existence of
Google+ by now--
Google going social (what?!). Circles and privacy features surely rival Facebook's groups and friend lists, and shiny new applications such as
Hangouts take the social networking to a whole new level. I wonder what Facebook's gonna do about it.. Of course, I doubt Google+ is a Facebook killer, as it might be addressed to another audience (geekier one perhaps) but competition's always good.
What's the future of Facebook, Google+, Diaspora, etc? Should we expect changes in Facebook and the "social" market? What do you guys think? Have you tried Google+ yet?

no, just no. social networking sites are just ridiculous. good to keep up with friends you may have moved away from or etc., but people take it so far overboard they just kill it. i myself have a facebook, but i only get on it like what, every 3-4 months? and its for like 10 seconds and i do nothing. half the people who have friend requested me i am not friends with or just dont even know. i still accept them, because i never get on facebook so there is nothing at all i put on it for them to see or read, so go ahead, stalk my page. im never on, dont have pictures/videos/comments so enjoy.

Do you use MSN or Skype?

Yup, but it's supposed to be better --more intuitive, with more privacy options, and a nice UI.

I like the stuff. I have a lot of family and friends all over the world and facebook seems to get a hold of some of them. I also hang out with several different groups of friends so google+ is looking good to me.
Facebook revamped their messaging so that you can't message just a group of friends anymore. You used to be able to group friends to lists and then just message the list. Now I have to type everybody's names in each time. Google+ is the answer I've been looking for. The trick will be getting everybody to use google+.
A lot of people get sucked into the games too. Farmville has been a gateway game to at least two friends. I used the opportunity to turn them on to gaming. I just showed them that Harvest Moon was a better farmville. These people would never had tried gaming otherwise.

I don't even have a facebook account, I just can't stand social networking sites.

Facebook is mainly for girls who want to "market" themselves to men by posting tons of pics of themselves. And the guys who like to stare at said pics.
It has little to do with social networking, or friends, for that matter.

lolol
Google+ looks interesting, just for curiosity's sake. I like their planning and design that went into the project. Hopefully it'll grab some market share from Facebook.

It's in closed beta, you need an invitation.

You gotta admit it works better than e-mail. Tbh I don't like Facebook that much but it helps with college because most of my friends use it, or even people I work with. I mean, it's true. Everyone is on Facebook. Why would you need MSN or e-mail? You can create groups and post messages there so it doesn't clutter up your inbox, the only flaw is that you can't attach files, but there's a turn around with specialized sites. Also,
videochat is coming to Facebook, but Google+ already has
this feature. Hopefully Google will integrate Docs, Picasa (already has I think), Gmail, Calendar, and Youtube (!) into Google+... that would be delicious.

The future of social networking? I think the answer is pretty simple: Facebook is going to reign supreme for a long, long time. Facebook has impacted so heavily into the social market that it is extremely hard to believe they will be defeated any time soon.
