Sigh, I dislike this. Even if they ARE advanced-style dungeons that take a while to complete, just knowing that there's an eventual limit and that I'm being punished for having fun (by not being able to have fun later in the week) ruins the mood for me.
Part of the reason why I dislike DFO.

Eventual limit you actually have to struggle to reach.
There's also an eventual limit to how much a person can eat, and yet..

I like this system more than Mabinogi's, I don't like hunting for the stupid advanced pass.
I want to log in and get on a boat with my partner and hit up a dungeon, not wait an hour to buy or hunt for it.
Kitaek puts it in a nice perspective, there seems to be an excessive amount of tokens for casual-moderate players.
Nexon's probably going to release NX tokens though, so hardcore gamers probably won't care that much.

Even in DFO, I only ran out of stamina once on the first day I played. Also, if that happens you're free to play on another character (in DFO at least) so you can still be hardcore if you -really- want to.

It's not like the cat is gonna use up all those tokens for high level dungeons in a week anyway
the cat has too many console and Pc games to play.

Systems that limit how much you can play a given game are bogus, period. If I want to play the damned game, I should be able to PLAY THE DAMNED GAME. No tokens, no cash shop items, no fatigue or stamina, none of this crap. DFO was fun -- until you ran out of fatigue points.
50 tokens a week, two tokens per dungeon, higher dungeon costs if I grind hardcore, and only the newbie dungeons are free? That's complete bs right there. Just another reason I won't be touching Vindictus.

Yeah but the dungeons will be longer than regular dungeons and you wouldn't be able to use up all your coins unless you spammed hardcore for a whole day. I doubt anyone could last that long.
Anyways, for -normal- players, there's basically no limit. It's like having 10,000 texts when you only use 1,000 in a month.
Also, it's beneficial for someone -not- to spend all day on a game trying to use up all their tokens.

A limit is still a limit. They might as well give me a time slot and prohibit me from playing outside certain hours.

Doesn't such a system exist to prevent imba?
-

No clue what "imba" is. I would assume "imbalance" but if that's what you meant I doubt you would have used such an uncommon shortening of the word.

I thought it existed because Koreans have strict laws on gaming time due to the many hardcore gamers that die from playing video games for 50 hours straight... Or was that just one man?

Intex wrote on 2010-06-02 05:33
Well Korean Mabinogi used to have a 2 hour per day limit for free users.
Maybe this was for the same purpose (make money while justifying the limit based on health reasons).

Yeah it's not nearly that harsh >.>
