Well, so lots of people told me this was a good show and to watch it...But Im on episode 5...and its pretty meh, I mean, theres no "good" characters....So I was wondering if it was going to be getting better soon? Maybe theres like a jump in the quality in episode 7 or something?
Also, I was watching it on dubhappy but its pretty bad there in my opinion, I was contemplating just downloading it due to my computers horrible video loading capabilities, but I dont know where I would do that, so does anyone have a good recommendation of where I should watch the dub version of Death note?

Is L in by episode 5? I don't think so...
Pretty much the only characters I liked were L, Ryuk (sometimes), and Matsuda.
But yeah, that series is awesome. I'm sure it gets better once things actually start happening.

Ah...he gets better when he's there in person.
Most definitely.

Manga is better. Anime is over-dramatic. Chorus while he writes a name? Puh-lease.

What do you mean by "Good" characters? As in characters that's doing what's right?

I mean, they all seem pretty like, straight forward at this point, they dont seem very complex or anything...Theres no character I want to root for, no character I support, its just, a bunch of random characters.

I enjoyed it, and I'm picky as hell. The series does real well to play with the audience's emotions by making it ambiguous to feel compassion for who.

The fact that there's no character you want to root for is because everyone in Death Note are rather cruel, including l. It's the ambiguous morality going around.
As for the bunch o random characters, they don't really show much characterization.

Manga is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than anime. The anime doesn't even compare.

I think Light's the only over-dramatic one.
Remember his potato chip scene?

L is god.
I supported Kira from the start, until a certain turning point.

Death Note is pretty awesome in my opinion, lol. It caught me early on, and I'm very picky with animes. It's the ONLY anime I'm able to watch all the way through more then once. The characters seemed unique, interesting, and cool. Then the strategy and stuff involved. But, I dunno xD

Death Note is the only anime/manga series that I still enjoy watching/reading after I got out of my otaku stage as a wee boy.
I find it hard to believe that someone could not be into it. I was hooked after episode 2. I found it extremely unique seeing as it is a supernatural detective story full of awesome mind games and stuff. The strategies of the different characters are so unpredictable and the anime is so awesomely over dramatic.

The only character development is in Light and Mello. Everyone else is pretty flat.
Light does go through a lot through the series though.
Anime does drag things out and overdramticize the story. And the yaoi fan service addition didnt help. I gave up the anime pretty fast.
Manga is still solid, a top 5/5 for me.
