no longer an issue as it was worked out on the second page.
Why.........i'm seeing more and more of them every day.......today i found one with 2 parts holy wing rest shining will, ivory sword and horn shield....level 64 and none of the colours even match T.T
I'm pretty sure pompush has a weapon upgrade better than ivory for every character and it costs like 500k max.
Maybe I'm just just too hard on them because i had most of the items for every upgrade weapon or armor already on my account from farming them before I hit the levels to wear them .-. But wow.... >.> everyone I see this combination I kinda want to kick them from my boat. (usually only running the roche boats now)
To me it screams "I spammed hidden from level 41+ and don't know how to kill bosses or farm i will eventually just buy vindi gold because I don't have the will to do anything for myself"
I wouldn't mind if they had a horn shield because jirkals and chiulins are expensive if they were using a half decent weapon for the things they are running .-.
/end rant
Not trying to come off as an elitist asshole but....even off of pure quest rewards you can efford to make a pompush weapon .-. hell selling your ivory you could buy 1-2 of them.
I don't actually kick them because that's rude but wow i really want to x.x
Anyone else have a set of weapons/armor that makes them want to instantly kick the person from the boat for wearing them at a certain level like this does for me?
*edit* just found a level 65 with chiulin /swift armor, kite shield and ivory long sword.....

maybe people don't want to pay for hefty repairs. Personally I run around in my undies to avoid armor repair fees :P

Shields and swords/hammers for fionas are mandatory for fighting since we can run naked with little side effects if we are great with our shields, Using third rate gear to avoid repair costs is stupid in my opinion.
Puts more pressure on your team mates to do better to make up for it. Personally, Repairs costs are not an issue, I still make money hand over fist on roche boat missions even with the higher repair rate, I'm sure it would have been more without it but you still make good money running missions.
Things like the colhen boats i use my sharp shooter set and the first hammer i ever had along with my first eagle heart to avoid repair costs for dailys because they are so easy i really don't need anything better.
Roche missions on the other hand on hardmode are not quite as easy as that so better weapons are needed.

Just becuase you have money/patience to farm, doesn't mean that everyone else does. Jirkal and chiulin are expensive, and the only decent hammer after ivory is black hammer.

pompush hammer 6k max costs 500k to make.
chiulin hammer *stats here* 4m ish.
I wouldn't mind if they had a horn shield if they were using a half decent weapon for the things they are running .-.

Ivory DOES have a 2500+ attack enchant to it...

I still think the best weapons per update that came out was the Ivory Weapon Sets, best thing that ever happened for an Upadate, and it ALWAYS activated for me on bosses, lol.

Oblivion.
Also, I still stand by the fact any Large Shield will work if you can block things properly. I ran a Kite Shield until I crafted a Chiulin Shield (which was after clearing all the Boat 7 content). Also a lot of people got Ivories to +10 (or Suprise boxes) with Oblvion and some other enchant back when it was the best weapon possible, so they aren't as far back as you'd think.
This topic actually reminds me of a few Irukuls I got kicked out of for "not wearing armor" (Blood Silk / Broken Ash / Savage Leather mix). I still did better then most other people once I learnt how to fight Irukul, even if my gear was complete garbage. Fiona's defense stat is useless if you block everything, and the attack stat is the only thing that sort of matters (only if you really care about speeding up kills, or getting more damage dealt to boss).

If you have one item sub par you should have the money to make the other one on par since i was able to get my armor my shield and my weapons on par/above par without THAT much work .-.
(my personal opinion)
I've been stuck with 4 fiona's in a party 3 using ivories forcing me to do over 70% of the damage done on the boss more than a dozen times, I'm growing a bit sick of having to carry groups of fiona's and lanns through rescue trying to get the 60 pierced bones for my black hammer set. (although lanns with ivories seem to do more damage than the fionas i meet.
But as i said i wont kick them because that's rude, Just felt like B*tching about it to vent my frustration.

Let's put it this way.
If you hit 9 times with a weapon that does 10K damage, you'll do 90K. If you hit 10 times with a weapon that does 9.2K damage, you'll do 92K.
Beyond a certain point, weapons only make a tiny difference and it's unsurprising that many people can't be bothered to farm them. Once you're only getting like a 5-10% bonus from a new item, it's like you might as well just spend the time practicing and make money "on accident" along the way as that would be more beneficial. Not that these people
need practice, just, you get what I'm saying.
I fully believe in going for the best gear, but more for a feeling of accomplishment than to actually be better. If I wanted to do better, I'd pick the battle I want to improve upon and run it over and over, collecting plenty of money from it along the way.

That's definitely a skill thing. Even if they had great items, that 70% would probably turn into 60% or 65%.

True very true, but having gear that lets you pull your own weight in runs helps a lot.
In rescue i've been getting over 30-40-50+ damage done in groups of 4 since i was level 60 (rescue). That means 3 people together have done the same work or a tiny bit more than i have because their weapons are worse. (people who farmed with me for many runs so they were not new to black hammer)

30% in a group of 4, maybe. But 40% is definitely not the result of gear. If you think about it, assuming everyone lands an equal amount of the same attacks, someone would need to have
44.4% better gear than everyone else to achieve 32.5% of the damage in a group of 4. That's kind of huge for what seems like only a marginal difference.

Listen to what you're saying. "Three people together have done the same work or a tiny bit more". This implies that your weapon makes you approximately two to three times more powerful than them. If they have 8,000 attack, you have approximately 16,000 to 24,000 attack, which is very obviously not the case. And if they have 10,000 attack... well damn, you're certainly packing the power.

I've never gotten less than 29% in a group of 4 since i upgraded from ivory hammer .-. and that was with staffies.
But again that was like 10-15 runs into it =/
Still feel like gear has it's side in this though.
