The thing that got me into it ws elfen lied oddly enough I tend to love romance/humor anime and manga though I don't mind watching other generes like action, horror all that good stuff I just favor romance/comedy
and I think I was in 7th grade when I watched elfen lied 0.o can't
remember
For manga it Hayate no Gotoku! started reading and loved which also caused the romance/comedy favortivity still remains one of my favorite mangas

It's not. It starts off really great, but falls flat with most of the really boring middle parts. The climax and the ending were just fine, though.

For me it was an anime that started it all.
It is shameful but my very first anime that has corrupted my simple mind was Girls Bravo.

First anime had to be Sailor Moon or DBZ.
First manga I've read to the end was FMA.

First anime was Gundam Wing. Saw it a few days before Dragonball Z and Pokemon. I was about 6 and I could barely understand what was going on, but for some reason i still loved it.
First manga was X/1999. Read it in the 6th grade. Didn't even read the first chapter, it was like the 5th or 6th chapter. Just something my friend picked up from the library.

Well, I suppose it was Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing and Speed Racer, back on Cartoon Network. But I never really knew what anime really was until I started actually getting really into it back Feb of last year or the year before.
The first ones I watched when really discovering anime were...
Death Note
Code Geass R2 (yeah, I watched R2 first cause I didn't understand R2 meant season 2. lol)
Code Geass R1
Elfen Lied
By then... I was completely and totally hooked.

My first anime was
Samurai Pizza Cats in the very early 90's, watched an english dub, back then for me it was just a cartoon, I had no idea what anime was.
Shortly after that my first manga was Dragon Ball (in french :< ) and Doctor Slump (got both at the same time). I then collected all 42 tankobon in french, as they released, because they weren't all out yet. I remember horrendously long waits between each one.
Then around 98 or 99 I started reading One Piece scanlations, on a crappy 56k dialup that would take 5 minutes to load one page. Been waiting for chapters of One Piece for over 10 years now D: Still worth it.

My actual first subbed anime I watched was Ranma 1/2...And manga would have to be Berserk....(Which wasn't really something I should of been reading at like 14 years old. >>)
