Quote from Destructoid:
If you hadn't already heard by now, Norway was struck by tragedy when a 32-year-old man murdered 93 people in a youth camp. Killer Anders Behring Breivik has said that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was part of his training for the "long-planned mission" against Islam, which of course has turned the event into a "videogames make murderers" opportunity.
Writing in his 1500-page manifesto, Beivik says, "“I just bought Modern Warfare 2, the game. It is probably the best military simulator out there and it’s one of the hottest games this year. I see MW2 more as a part of my training-simulation than anything else."
He admitted that "urban Europeans" would have trouble finding good target practice, so suggest country clubs or videogames as alternative methods of training. Mainstream news sites are already making the videogame link their main focus of the story, so it won't be long before the usual suspects (basically everyone who works for the Murdochs) to start saying that VIDEOGAMES DID NORWAY!
There is, of course, no proven link to videogames and violence, and the idea that Modern Warfare 2 is an adequate training tool is laughable. Games and guns don't handle in the same way at all, but I doubt that'll stop the outcries of "experts" who think any teenager can play a videogame and become an expert assassin.
It's worth noting this guy was also a Christian fundamentalist motivated by the kind of religious intolerance that many news outlets have encouraged since 9/11, but I don't expect FOX News to blame anything on *that* bit. Y'know ... the *important* bit.

Well, I dunno about that game specifically, since I'm no an expert on those. But video games can and have been used to train soldiers with the mental aspect of killing. They could also be viable teaching tools as far as tactics are concerned. Obviously it won't teach you how to aim and fire weapons well, and I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to imply that. <_<

I played Dynasty Warriors and am very well trained in cutting down thousands of foes yes
He must have been really bad at Modern Warfare though
Only ten kills out of hundreds, none of them trying to kill him back
:sigh:
But in all seriousness, I'm starting to think the guy's a troll. I don't want to think he's that low, but honestly, I can't help it.

Videogames teaching people to be assassins is . anyone who says otherwise is just flat out stupid. a "simulator" used for training military personel and a "videogame" are 2 different things. it just shows how idiotic this man is in his belief that MW2 was training for any mission. some people need to get a reality check.

Video games easily can be called a military simulator.
But that's only within tactical reasoning, most games now days won't have realism to the point any "real" or viable tactics would be used.
Any amount of skill wouldn't have any real use without any REAL practice.
I'm great with guns, but that's because I've been around them and used them since I was 6. At most video games can help reflexes or mastering your own movements, but you can't do much unless you actually learn to use a gun itself.

Stay away from Call of Duty, Jimmy! It'll teach you how to set up over complicated bombs with sophisticated machinery behind them and turn you into a terrorist of mass destruction!

Every time I hear someone go on about how video games make people violent I just go meh.
Its so old and nobody cares any more. People cry murder all the time, yet does it actually happen?

There will always be one.
I just think this one stood out because the
killer himself wants others to believe video games trained him to do so.
