.
I see context
I see text
Umad? utrolling? uhappy?
Sorry I can't see it. Does that mean your post was useless?

Well at least I for one hate those yellow smily face emoticons. They make me want to punch an unborn baby for some reason.
[SPOILER="Spoiler"]
If you mean these:

I absolutely agree with you there.
However, the variations of the following yellow faces I find to not be annoying; unless, of course, spammed to their death:

To OP:[SPOILER="Spoiler"] I can see your point, but I have to use this for their QFT.

But luckily they're exclusively used by minors and females.

Tell me which of the two sounds like more of a joke.
I actually think both, but the 2nd one gives off the impression that you're a lunatic o-o;
also above post I would much prefer those faces

Well I will occasionally use them in conversations with friends. And besides, I'd much rather use "XD" than "lol" to convey that something was funny. I mean..."lol"...have you ever typed that into the Microsoft speech thing? Yeah...doesn't sound so great. And quite frankly, "hehe", or "haha" doesn't really seem fitting to me. When somebody says something funny in real life I don't just say "hehe", you usually make some type of face and laugh. So emoticons in a comedic context make more sense to *me*. However I do hate when people only reply to you with a simple ":D" or ":P" or ">:O". They really should be able to find something real to say.

That's very amusing. :)

Here's ways you can do it with text alone:
"You're so stupid >.<"
Your stupidity is frustrating!
"You're so stupid :P"
You're dumb lol.
Alternative: Ahah, you're so stupid.
"You're so stupid -.-"
You're hopelessly stupid...
Personally I welcome the effort to try and loosely represent the naturally accompanying facial expressions in chats, and can certainly find no good arguments against the practise.

I'm much too animated when I'm actually speaking to not use emoticons.
But I've tried to tone it down over the past while, because I realized I used them for every sentence.
I think I've improved. :)
