When I first read the madoka thread on mabination, I thought the anime was going to be good. But when I watched the first 10minutes of the first episode, I was bored of the long explanations that didn't seem to end.
So tell me nationers, is madoka the kind of anime that bores you at first with explanation, but gets better as it goes on?

Basing an anime on the first episode isn't a wise choice. Animes take a few episodes to get the overall feel of it

Yup I learned that lesson when I watched shakugan no shana. So that's why I'm giving a second chance at this anime.
Could I get an example of why this anime is different than any other mahou shoujo animes?

Watch up to the end of Episode 3, then decide. That seems to be the deciding episode for a lot of people. In my opinion, that's when the show takes off. But telling you what happens would kind of ruin it, which is why people here don't really want to.

Ugh, I might as well check it out. I've been avoiding it because of people raving like mad men about it, saying that it's a "deconstruction" or whatever. Though they mentioned a lot of elements I've seen already in shows like Ideon. And I really hate when people say that things "created" a genre after a show before that did the SAME THINGS.
IE: Gurren Lagann fans, not the reasonable Gurren Lagann fans. but the "DUUUUUURPPPPP GURREN LAGANN IS THE FIRST AND ONLY MECHA ANIME". Not even gonna get started on that. But, they don't seem to realize that Getter Robo did the same things. Though it wasn't hardly was ever watched/understood by anyone because it has many adaptions, the artstyle isn't for everyone, and only people who've read the manga/saw the original tv series/actually looked up info about previous stories would understand some of the adaptions.

In episode 1, what's closest to the rest of the show is the song that plays in her dream sequence.
