the cat hopes that the circuit blows up stickies and rockets
that would make engie slight more safe against demos and soldiers
(although a good pyro would screw him over)

Pyros are bad at distances covered by Sentry guns, though. Soldiers (and good demomen) can get off shots with minimal damage done.

no
the cat meant paired with a heavy and a medic
the medic would uber charge the heavy
making the sentry target him
Pyro would then go in and roast the sentry and the engie at the same time

Er, the Purity Fist is actually a Heavy's Melee weapon.
Also, I find the Short Circuit useless. Rockets will either be too far away to be hit, or too close to be missed. Stickies will still explode faster than you can switch and shoot at.
The Diamondback is a lot more useful (Cloak and Dagger + Diamondback + following an enemy Engineer = lots of easy crit boosting). Machina is decent. I have no say for Widowmaker, though if you're good at aiming, this will provide you with infinite shots without reloading.

Machina isn't practical for competitive since it leaves a trail for your bullets
and the damage bonus only applies to fully charged shots
good snipers dont charge often since they can pick off anyone thats not a soldier or heavy with headshots.
however, it's a fun weapon to use
the cat managed to jarate a cart with 4 people lined up
and full charged body shot them
instantly killed them since it does 240 dmg

I'm pretty sure it's cosmetic only, actually.

Me too. I was excited at first (Engie is my most played class by a
long way), but it seems difficult to master and just... inconvenient for constant use. At least Engie is getting
some new weapons.

I'm hoping it gets buffed by having quicker switch increase, like Degreaser. That won't make it a save-all or make it better than Compression Blast, but it gives the Short Circuit a larger margin of error that is more appropriate for regular players.

The short circuit is completely useless, just tested it on some bots and it took 6-8(or maybe 10) direct in your face shots to kill a scout.

Sweet New Engie stuff.
Hmm, I have a sudden urge to try and buy hats. Something I haven't really done yet.

I jut started playing TF2 last week and I dont understand these gears. Do I need to buy them? or I can randomly unlock them? Sofar I found a knife for sniper (dunno how I got it).
Are the gears based on achievement?
-
Kingofrunes wrote on 2011-08-22 13:28
I think there are some achievement based gears and some gears you find randomly. You don't have to buy them. You could always craft them as well from junk you randomly find.

Promotional ones can never be found, only crafted.(unless you're on a modded server that allows all items with a extremely low chance)
Most items are easy to get or come from achievements.
