Hurricane irene as of now is bashing the bahamas as a class 3 storm but
Its predicted path is set to mow down the east cost
Retaining force still being a class 1 storm by the time its hitting Boston
Places like New york and other east coast towns will likely take major flooding, combined with a very wet past august meaning even worse
http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/americas/08/25/tropical.weather/index.html
Sorry if this thread was already made
So I know there are some fellow New Jersey peeps+ New yorkers here, how ready are you?

I already spammed this all over facebook. People overexaggerated the power of the earthquake way too much. I think the greatest damage in New York would be heavy winds and some storms. Just watch newspeople get all scared about it cause it's their first hurricane/thunderstorm.
Trust me on this. If I am wrong by any chance... Iunno, I'll be dead by then LOL.
Double Edit: Look at that, I got myself some haters on fb now.

Honestly, the storm has been getting stronger and stronger.
When I was in the hospital on Monday, the news said Irene would be class 3 when it hit Charleston, NC.
An hour or two later, it was going to be class 3 right after the Bahamas.
If it's class 3 at the Bahamas now, then...
Good bye, East Coasters.
:bye:

It could also weaken as it works its way up the East Coast.
We don't know yet, but it's good to be safe.
If it does hit powerfully, just take precaution. Stay away from the ocean or any body of water, because flooding would suck. Don't go swimming at the beaches, etc., etc.
I can see some subway stations shutting down downtown if it does hit lower Manhattan though, mainly because of flooding. But I don't think it'll get that bad.

If the worse gets down, you can always just go into your basement. Make sure to bring food.
Edit: Oh and a phone with exceptionally good reception. If you got trapped in the basement call the cops or something.

Well, I can say for certain that there are people using predictive software to estimate the potential damages across a variety of scenarios, including worst-case scenarios, to better prepare a response to this hurricane (and in fact, any tropical storm with the potential to become a hurricane).

Anywho, I have to work in this storm. Yup, that's right Walmart is not closing.
