I thought it was a powerful article. Though overall messy, chaotic, and sidetracked, there are parts here that we can all empathize with, and can learn from.
To My Someday Daughter
Its a long read, but a really inspirational one. A letter addressed to his future daughter. It is sparked by and revolves around a recent controversial article written by an ex gizmodo intern, Alyssa Bereznak, who
recounted her experience going on a date with a former Magick: The Gathering champion, publicly calling him in out in the process.
Revolves around sexuality, pride, maturity, and other controversial issues, primarily focused on gamers.

Lemme be the first to say it, but **** that hoe.
I hate overly judgmental people like her. Watch her find the "man of the dreams" and annoy him to the point that he runs the hell away from her.
Edit: Nice ending to the letter though. Portrayed the offender (in this case, the woman on the date) as a not-so-bad person. It's nice to sympathize, even with people who can't do absolutely good to you. Still thought it was uncalled for though.

I'm not finished reading this yet, but thank you for linking. As a girl going into an industry dominated by men, I think this is an important read.

Mothers, warn your daughters!
:XD:
Nothing too out of the ordinary, overall.

This is a pretty amazing read. He gives out some good points there, but I skimmed through some of the middle. Read the ending, and he has some good points stretched out there.

“I want to see myself represented,†she told me once, with a bone-weariness that I knew I couldn't alleviate. I realized that most of our tried-and-true narratives are taken from history and thus exclude women. Any period piece (Sengoku Japan, Early China, Ancient Rome, Prohibition-Era America) automatically marginalizes women because, with a few exceptions, they weren't allowed to do anything until about 1970. No matter how riveting you think that Tom Hanks movie is where he's a mob hitman travelling the country with his son, a woman will look at the screen and see no one like herself and a story set in a time when women were barely allowed to vote. Men get to imagine that we are Tom Hanks, and she gets to imagine…what? Doing the dishes? Getting killed in the first five minutes? My heart went out to her and to all women who wish to be space captains and crime fighters and great historical figures.
I quoted this because it's how me and a lot of my friends feel about how women are represented in the media.
EDIT: Finished reading both articles.
I think she judged him too quickly. Her article isn't as bad as many of the responses made it sound, but she was at fault, too. They guy responded nicely and honestly, from the looks of it, and she judged him based on something he likes to do as if that's all he is; as if there's nothing more.
Being quick to judge is the downfall of both her and gamers. Use of language is really important, too. She didn't explain herself well, I think (if she had a better explanation). The way gamers responded, too, reminds me of all the kind of people I try to avoid online.

I suggest you read the "letter" at hand first.

If... that is real and her face isn't the result of crying due to being forced there, then I have to say she's just being lazy and doesn't want to get a job.
Edit: Or is that guy? I thought it was an ugly girl at first, but maybe its just an ugly guy.

Some people do not want to risk the status quo that they are already used to and satisfied with. In that case, they are kind of stuck in time. xd
