I just quit from playing Vindictus for the day, and I decided to post in this forum for once to share a near-death experience that wasn't very pleasant to me.
Now, I soloed Gnoll King, Ruler of the Ruins the first time, and first try as my Fiona, and I appreciate how much things are so easy when you've got a strong woman that can withstand so much.
But what horrified me was that I was venturing on a party (it was only a bit laggy, but I died anyways during the boss fights) and I was with a level 35 and a level 64 that were both Evies. Normally, Level 64s just get the job done for the rest of the newbs in the party, but this time, I didn't know what was going on, because the Level 64 was so cowardly towards the gnoll bosses that it just left me so confused. She has all this power, and she doesn't even use it to her advantage! :!!:
She finishes Black Scar in DK mode, which is what she should have done in the first place, because we were at the verge of failing the dungeon, and we were also doing the breakoff, in which I realized was impossible and just fought. Now the dungeon was in hard mode and I think she was sharing the mob, so I think that may have explained the level 64 Evie's strange sloppiness.
Now I'm not criticizing him/her keep in mind. I just think that stuff like this doesn't need to happen If you're going to be considerate to newbs when sharing some parts of the mob, meaning that you leave some enemies over for newbs so they get more exp. I do appreciate that she was being considerate (I thought it looked like she was really, she was skipping some mobs.) And I think she can do better when venturing on a Hard dungeon by being more confident in his/her skills. I've never seen an Evie player act like this before, and she has all these mana shields and all this power.
Which makes me also want to say this:
We gotta learn from the Koreans before Chapter 9 is released in the US. @_@

All I can say is, I'd rather have some people that are good enough with their strategy-level rather than judging by their actual level run dungeons with me. Because someone could just as well perhaps let someone new at the game play on their "good" character or something, and that doesn't prove skill level so much.
Maybe she was in a rush or something, explaining why she was skipping mobs when possibly everyone else wanted to kill the mobs? I dunno, taking the person in consideration maybe, for one, they were lagging, rushing, etc.

Levels in vindictus doesn't dictate as much as most people think.
Its stupidly retarded when I get kicked from a party because I'm one level below them.

I would probably skip trash mobs also if im running in a party (Any dungeon lower than Ortel Castle).
Why I kill mobs:
-If they drop expensive mats
-If I need mats to craft something
-If they are wisps
-If they drop Empowerment stones
-If ill be needing the SP for the boss fight
Why I skip mobs:
-In a hurry
-the EXP and drops arnt worth it
-if there are no point in killing them
But when im in party I try not to expect too much from players over or under my lvl.

I'm pretty sure you get the same experience from mobs killed, no matter who does the killing. BizarreJuju's reasoning sounds much more plausible.

Whenever something like this happens, think of what you could have done better. It doesn't make other player any better, obviously, but it does make you better, which can change the outcome.
One thing many people ignored in Vindictus is teamwork, unfortunately it's the most determining factor of the battle's outcome. Are you running around too much and making the boss charge into someone else? Are you holding back too much when you had full hp and let someone get boss aggro the whole time? Are you going all in for damage and forgot to rez/heal/disable for your teammates?
I have seen how skilled player win, they only need to care for themselves, that's their way of teamwork, survive, and deal dps.
I have seen how lower level player win, they support each other, using chain/spear/palala when boss if focusing on someone.
I have seen how mixed group win, the skilled one stay alive and rez the lower level, while the lower level support and let the skilled one deal damage.
I have also seen how mixed group failed, the lower level died because of little support (and think the skilled aren't helping and is a noob), the skilled stayed alive and think the lower level is incompetent and noob. (this actually happens the most)
Obviously one run or two you will see one reckless player, but keep in mind, that maybe when he's with his friend, that's the best way of fighting the boss quick. Or the player that constantly hold back, maybe he's waiting for a chain or palala.
There's no "right" way to finish a boss, hell you can even lure a boss into pillar and kill him with the drop damage. As long as you win, everyone's a win. If you got wiped, then faults on everyone, not just someone.

As a lv68 evie, in that mish if I dont down the boss in like 15 seconds thats probably me holding back somewhat. sometimes i feel bad for taking out the boss so fast but that's pretty much what happens when that boss gets downed by ice spear -> blind arrow -> fireball (can be tanked by a high level evie, as in stand there and keep focusing) , and probably a few MA after that.
I can see maybe if that lv64 Evie was naked, it might change things up or if it was hero mode.

Ya unless the evie was a total idiot they were probrably holding back. My 64 evie could wipe scar in hardmode in 20 seconds or so. Sometimes i feel bad joining a party for dailys knowing that I can wipe the whole thing. But running solo gets boring you know.

You should try hero daily, solo if you prefer challenges.

I actually don't like Hero mode. Might be due to the fact I play a Fiona though.
All it does is make trash mobs annoying (Sword Fiona lacks a good mob clearer) and it makes you speed up your block strings (which are really slow in normal/hard).

Yeah, it's because you main sword. Switch over to Hammer and anything short of boat 6 Hero (and the boat 5 hero raids) is cake.

It's not as simple as just switching over. You need to have the right skill sets too, otherwise you turn into someone weaker than someone who is like, 10 levels below you that mains the same type of weapon. What you really need is to start hybridizing so you can use both weapons for different situations.

It doesn't take all that much AP to rank Long Hammer mastery, Stigma, and Butterfly. All the other stuff is hybrid anyway, because no matter what weapon you use, you will use a shield and heavy/plate armor, etc. I haven't found a situation for a sword since I switched over either (other than messing around).

My post came from the viewpoint of a Lann, as indicated by my siggy :( Takes forever to get the right skill sets. Nexon really needs to start buffing Lanns.
