Are you against it or for it?
Just to give the mods a general idea as to what the community thinks. If you don't care either way just don't take the poll. I'll list the pro's and con's people can come up with.
Pros:
because it lets you ignore someone that constantly bothers you
I guess it's also good and courteous if it minimizes arguments, so that the rest of us don't have to see peoples' bickerings.
Some people just don't have the self control to see someone's posts and not reply starting something nasty.
Cons:
ignoring someone doesn't solve the problem
It's also not really good if the moderators are putting people on their ignore list.
Users instead of using the report post function, they end up using the ignore option.
I don't think it should be abused just to ignore any person you happen to randomly dislike on a whim, because that would just destroy a community. I think it should be used for someone you genuinely hate and despise and really can't stand seeing their posts.
Please give decent feedback~

I'm for, because it lets you ignore someone that constantly bothers you. Then a con, ignoring someone doesn't solve the problem.

Moved to MabiNation Discussion since this thread is to let the staff know what the members think about a function of the site, and would be taken a lot more seriously here than in Bean Rua.

Well, these kinds of threads draw a lot of side conversations and sometimes even arguements... just be careful, ehh?

I'm for it. A lot of people are saying, "Oh it doesn't solve the problem" but from what I've seen of a lot of the posters, they REFUSED to even try and solve the problem. That just creates way more drama when two people are refusing to stop, so I'd rather have the ignore function present so there's not an abundance of cattiness and rudeness happening just because person A and person B can never agree.

Oh, if only you could press a magical ignore button to shut up people who annoy you in real life. Sadly, that's not the case.
I'm generally against ignore functions, but different people have different needs so who does and doesn't need one isn't for me to judge.
I don't think it's a good idea to get used to just ignoring people who bother you though, but in some cases, such as when someone is really verbally hurting you, it is best that you do use the ignore option. I guess it's also good and courteous if it minimizes arguments, so that the rest of us don't have to see peoples' bickerings.
So, I am both for and against it, but I personally do not use it.

It's pretty useful if you don't want to see someone else's posts, or simply don't get along with someone else very well. It does prevent many arguments, but I personally don't use it.
It's also not really good if the moderators are putting people on their ignore list. It's really, not doing their job so well. Or rather, users instead of using the report post function, they end up using the ignore option.

The basic ignore function is a core part of the forum, it's built in and can't be taken out whether people like it or not.
All I did was add the option to change how it displays posts by people you decide to ignore (totally invisible versus showing a button to view the post).
For people who don't want to use that option then leave it at the standard method in your forum options (it's on that one by default anyways).
There's also less than 45 total entries on the database for ignored users, and that isn't a big change from before I added the new option, so it's not like half the community is ignoring each other. People are just making a big deal out of nothing, either that or they don't like the idea of getting ignored.

Unfortunately, some people never change either, so not ignoring them also doesn't solve the problem.

I'm for it. Despite how much I'd like to think everyone could get along or at least control themselves, I realize that simply isn't a reality, and we do have to live in reality. Some people just don't have the self control to see someone's posts and not reply starting something nasty.
So yes, I think it's good for those people.
With that said, I don't think it should be abused just to ignore any person you happen to randomly dislike on a whim, because that would just destroy a community. I think it should be used for someone you genuinely hate and despise and really can't stand seeing their posts. That's the only way I really condone it, really.
But, yeah. I see its uses. I won't use it, personally, as a mod. It's important for me as a mod to be able to see everyone that posts so that I can appropriately do my job.

Perhaps limiting the ignore feature to a maximum of 5 or less people per user?

I'm not sure how I feel about it. I honestly think it's dumb, but if you really feel like you need to use it, there's no issue in that. What really bothers me about it, though, is that there's a huge possibility that someone has one minor altercation with someone and then they automatically put said person on their ignore list. That's just dumb.

I think you've already made that clear~
@Osay - So the 45...does it total everyone's ignores and disregards any repeats, or is it 45 different people on the list? Just curious.
