I'm almost sure this game has some problem managing memory now.
I was able to crash with the 'out of memory' error shortly after i alt tabbed back to the game yesterday. I think there's something to do with that?
I dunno, but I have more than enough ram, overkill amount really. A whopping 12GB ram xD
I play on vista 64-bit for this game, but on win7 I have a different problem.

I have 8.91GB like a beast and I play perfectly fine and with total ease.

@foreign + @rozel:
do you guys play in fullscreen windowed or actual fullscreen and do you alt tab a lot? Also do you have Nvidia or ATI gpu?

That makes sense, 4GB should be enough for pretty much everything. I've never actually seen this game use more than 1GB memory in the task manager...

Windowed fullscreen, and yes, I alt+tab a lot.
ATI GPU.

Why would you have twelv- never mind, I don't want to know.
The problem could be caused by the Vindictus thingy, maybe it needs to have access to more RAM somehow. :V

This keeps happening to me.
12GB. Win 7 64-bit. Fullscreen, and yes I alt tab a lot. ATI GPU.
It's honestly not related to your memory. The usage remains low even after looong periods of extended use. It usually happens to me when I'm in town, especially while taking the carriage, but sometimes just when certain parts of the town are loading.

So you can open 1,000 videos of the succubus at the same time.

Yay I'm not alone! Yea it usually happens after loading town...damn this game is buggy. And yea I also have an ATI gpu.

It's the source engine, so it's probably something more CPU-related, if I had to take a guess.

I'm using an i7 CPU and it usually isn't stressed very much either. It might've been running into some sort of compatibility issue lately but it certainly isn't because it isn't good enough.
Then again this game runs fairly poorly for me oftentimes and even when it's under a smooth 60 it doesn't bother to utilize even half of either my CPU or GPU. I'm not sure what causes this but it's a pain in the ass.

Oh do you have multicore rendering set to maximum?

Does it skip around with the sound beeping? lool

The frame dip is crazy for me when I try to host 8-man glas too. I've seen it dip below 20FPS lol :(

Sometimes it skips while loading something and a sound will repeat. When I'm opening a the map to select an area, for example, it'll often skip a bunch of frames and play the map opening sound twice. Also when I'm at a little "turn" in Rocheste between the marketplace and the docks, I'll skip frames.
Framerate can just be bad. It just isn't utilizing my CPU, GPU or RAM to the fullest and I don't know what's bottlenecking it, but it's incredibly annoying because this happens to me in some games but not others. Driver updates didn't fix this for me. I'd love to play Vindictus at the framerate this computer deserves but I just can't.
Oh and yes, I have multicore rendering set to maximum. No matter what I put it on, it does the same thing though.

it's the CPU, source engines are very light on the GPU. and it's indeed bad that an i7 bottlenecks this game, it shows how well it's optimized.

When I play on win7, I found the sound skipping is worst in the succubus mission the sound will just keep skipping sometimes...it's incredibly annoying.

I'd like to think that's the case, but I can't help but think it isn't. It never pushes my CPU very hard. I think it brings it to roughly 20-40%, but I'd need to check.
