And asked me to cover for him tomorrow. 1-6.
My response was, nah I usually wake up at 1 on the weekends. He proceeded to tell me all I had to do was wake up and hour earlier, and was all like "c'monnn".
I then told him, no, I have plans anyways. And he told me "Alright, have fun sleeping till 1 then"
I found that EXTREMELY rude. Do you guys think so? Because of that, I know for a fact I won't be covering for him ever(I have before).

Well, since all I know is what you've just said, seems perfectly fine to me.

You're a lazy ass for rejecting his request with such an excuse. I'd probably be pissed if I was him.

He probably doesn't seem like a very refined person... did he specify the reason for why he needed you to cover?

Eh, I disagree. I wouldn't want to work on a weekend when I didn't have to, especially on a Sunday.
Besides, seems like said coworker didn't even say why he wanted someone to cover for him.

You should've said you had plans at the start and that you were sorry you couldn't help cover his shift. Saying that you need to sleep isn't a good excuse under any circumstance.

I've no reason to lie. If I wanted to cover for him I would have. I am in by no means required to make up an excuse. I was honest. If I was scheduled I'd work without complaining, but I shouldn't feel inclined to work just because he asked me to, neither do I need to tell him what I'm doing tomorrow.

You're going to burn a lot of bridges that way, but whatever.

If you don't want to, that's fine. But be more responsible and imagine you needed/wanted a day off for whatever reason. If you turned to someone for help and they told you they couldn't, it'd be one thing. But if they tell you no because they are lazy and like to sleep in and won't make an exception to help you out, that's just... >_>

I'm a people person. This guy asks me to cover for him every other day anyways, I usually don't even grace him with an answer. Always calling out and sh*t.

No one ever wants to cover for me, so yeahhhh. I don't need a life story. I just need a yes or a no. Besides I actually do have something to do tomorrow, which is the reason I don't work on weekends.

Kinda wrong to belittle him because he didn't want to cover a shift he didn't have to.
At least he was honest, way better than telling a lie.

It's called etiquette. If someone requires assistance from you, it's courteous to provide a suitable reason if you can't help, even if you have to fudge the truth. Akemii could have been perfectly honest by just saying he had plans, but adding that he wanted more sleep is the kind of thing that doesn't make people feel good. People may not remember the good you've done, but they will definitely remember if they feel someone wronged them, and you never know who can and cannot hurt you in the future.

I understand what you're saying, but it's just Troy.

If someone gives less than 24 hour notice and doesn't have a really good reason, sleep is a totally legitimate excuse.
