  What? Why? The first episode was the best two-part adventure episode they have had yet (as far as pacing goes anyway), and Too Many Pinkie Pies was just the greatest thing ever (but I admit that I'm biased as Pinkie Pie is my favorite pony).

  1. Villain sucks, he got virtually no background, no personality, and he wasn't killed by elements of harmony.
  
  2. Twilight refer to to princess Celestia as "Celestia"? What kind of noob did they get for writing script? She always call her "princess" or "your highness".

I feel these characters have no soul, rarity is just a fashion bimbo, twilight just cares about study (except the plot device which is she putting her friends first -_-).
  
  5. I don't like changes they made to Celestia, they kind of dropped her wisdom and make her more panicky? Can't quite put my fingers on it.
  
  6. Random songs. first 2 episodes have like 2 songs that came out of nowhere. I don't remember ponies break into songs for no reason (cept Pinkie, but she's exception). Plus the 2 new songs weren't that great either.
  
  
  I am not some purists but I love the show because of depth of personality, it seems they just did away with the 3 dimensional characters of the ponies in favor of what they are best known for; and because of it, it has this nagging feeling of carebear cartoon.

  There really wasn't much focus on any character except Twilight and Spike for the two-parter, so I think it's too early to say all the characters are becoming one dimensional. The Pinkie Pie episode characterized Pinkie Pie really well. It showed she cares about her friends more than she cares about fun and parties. The villain in the two-part adventure was a lot less fleshed out than previous villains, but that's because this time, the story was focused more on Twilight's test rather than on the villain. He served as more of a looming threat that hung over the entire story rather than as a character, but that worked very well for the type of episode they were making. What I liked abut that episode over the other two-part episodes they've had was that the ending didn't seem rushed the way it did with Nightmare Moon, Discord, and especially the Changelings. As for Celestia, I think this episode portrayed her better than some of the others. I got the feeling from this one that she was perfectly capable of dealing with the problem herself, but she was having Twilight do it in order to prepare her for something(lends credence to the theory that she's secretly training Twilight to take over the kingdom someday). Anyway, it was way better than the crapfest that was the Season 2 finale where she gets K.O.'d in 10 seconds by the stupid Changeling Queen.
  So yeah, that's just my take on everything. Also, random songs are pretty much a staple of the show, so I don't quite get what you're talking about there.

  Think back on songs that weren't sang by Pinkie
  
  "art of dress" is a song used during the progression of the dress making, that's the reason its there. It blends the process smoothly.
  "winter wrap up" is a song explaining why is winter wrap up important and what's involved. It's a clever way of showing it without boring expositions.
  "pet for me" is a nice dual number that not only progress the plot but also show off rainbow and fluttershy's personalities.
  
  Now look at the "failure song". There is no context for this song. The whole scenario is forced to begin with because she neither passed for fail the test, everything in the song were already explained to audience beforehand during the conversation between Twilight and Celestia, so the song really has no purpose other than to show off Twilight's personality which were always done in ways of dialog and actions. Only Pinkie's personality was shown solely with music number and that's because of her quirky nature.

  2. Seeing as her brother married cadance, I think Twilight Sparkle may consider her family now and find it respectable to do so.
