I can attest to the buter/maid-only outfits being false as well. My maid is wearing a Casual Elementary School Uniform and my butler is wearing a Bandit outfit.

On another note, not sure if intentional or bug...
If you have multiple Butlers or Maids, if you complete a Partner Quest on a Butler, you no longer get the partner quest on your other butlers either for that day. However, if you have 1 Butler and 1 Maid, you are fine as you can do the quest on each of those.
Ohhh I was wondering about this, with what having two butlers and one maid.
Tripling the "pretty much can wear anything" train:

There are some outfits the partners can't wear, though. I can't really find any rhyme or reason to it.
For example my butler refuses to take the Pirate Woodworker wear I had ready for him.

Make sure to
1) gift from your main inventory (not in a bag)
and
2) make sure the partner has enough inventory space because their current clothing will be replaced

Bags do work. All of the gifts I have successfully given my partner's have been from one of my inventory sub bags. (It's all I have for my main inventory anyways is bags, bags, and more bags. VIP and Personal Inventory are my only ones without bags)

Has anyone lost any dura on the stuff they gave to their partners yet?

due to not having cash i can't buy both:gloom:. However, while i want to buy the butler, i'm sure the
maid would be more useful to me, anyone have any ideas.
P.S. i'm mostly referring to the shops that they both have, on the wiki i saw the items they sell and the butlers items suck bigtime, i couldn't ever see myself buying any of them, but the maid sells bandages:pain: and phoenix feathers:imdead:, and taming bait:chomp: and weaving gloves:cold:. all things i run threw quickly.
this decision is to hard for me, i leave my fate in the hands of he forums,

I'd go maid if you needs lots of first aid stuff on the fly and want to do animal taming without having to trek all the way to Cor.
Plus the maid also repairs accessories which I tend to use quite a bit so it saves me a trip to Bangor to speak with Jennifer.

They get prof on their items, so I imagine the dura is decreasing as well.
Haven't used them enough in combat to be absolutely sure though. They're too weak at the moment.

Wait, so nothing from Fleta? Argh I was planning for my shota butler to wear the bunny robe...
I hope I don't give them something expensive/rare and find out they can't wear it. >:(

I had to take my items out of VIP Inventory for my maid to equip.

Definite dura loss on given items:
