Why is wow our go to traditional class role template?
Because WoW popularized the trio of roles.

tbh more people have probably played WoW than DnD, or a WoW clone at the least.

which is why gold selling and real money auction house is despicable. Blizzard can kiss my ass.

Speaking of WoW I ran into a guy who was doing some intense raids, critiquing his pug party he joined. From the end result his tank did the most damage so for all game it just depends on the players.
Also he farms account to sell and makes about $600 per account o3o

Vindi isn't just a clone of something like WOW with different graphics like most other MMOs, so the classes aren't designed to fit any traditional roles.
If they were classified with those roles, then Fiona, Lann, Evie, and Karok would all be DPS.
No ne of the chars out right now fit tank or healer well, and when Kai(the archer) comes out, I highly doubt he'll be a tank.. Karok and Evie can somewhat do the job of a tank, but they still fit dps way better.
Actual damage done is kinda irrelevant for this topic right now since those statistics are guaranteed to ghange more than once in the future; skills are still capped at 6 pr lower(if they werent planning to have atleast 15 ranks, they would be ordered and labeled differently), we have no idea how he ATT and BAL stat differences between weapon types of the same level will be in the future, and they keep rebabancing the dmg multipliers for attacks anyway.
Based on the character descriptions provided by the developers(Which i think are pretty accurate, based on what each char's moves actually do ingame), Lann is mainly geared toward crowd controll(taking out the trash quickly so the party can get to the boss faster); Fiona's defense is really just for improving offense by taking advantage of openings that other characters usually can't, and she's meant to be great at stunning; and Evie is intended to be the main damage dealer(that's right, she's op because she's supposed to be!) and has a lot of fun tricks like alchemy.(I didn't check what they said about Karok)

The problem here is that Fiona cannot hold aggro. Therefore she cannot tank.
She can by sit spamming, and she can do it all game long. Other classes (except Karok) cannot, as their ability to dodge is limited. I'd imagine Sword Lanns can't slip dodge some faster attacks while cornered, Evie's amber breaks, and nothing else can come close to tanking at all. So in that sense, yes, she can.
I'm not quite sure what you're saying to say. Are you basically saying it doesn't count because sit spamming isn't a built in skill like Heavy Stander?

If I have to put them in an existing class role template, I'd say Dungeon Fighter Online.

Sit spamming isn't guaranteed aggro, and doesn't work on every boss.

Dunno, it's always worked for me as an Evie. People have claimed it doesn't work for them, but they tend to spam it veeery slowly.

The mini golems in Colru come to mind. They aggro you based on distance normally. I've tried to lure the gold one away from my partner by sit spamming, but he ignored my supposed vulnerability D:

I feather/cancel to draw aggro. Im sure everyone notice bosses switch aggro to people who use pots and party/party feather. I personally hate sit spamming cause like some people say it doesnt work 100% of the time. Only problem with feather/cancel is that it clogs up your chat. But it normally takes me 1 or 3 tries to draw aggro.

if you count things like gestures(such as sit) and quickslot items as aggro holding techniques, then ALL classes are tanks.
And Fiona can't "do it all game long", while others can. When evie's amber breaks, she can make another one as fast as you can doubletap space again. When Fio's shield breaks, she needs to spend like 2 seconds(in the middle of a fight, that's a LOOOOOOOOOONG time) if she uses the SP skill, and way longer without it.
And Fios are the ones with the most limited dodge; it has no invincibility, barely shrinks the hitbox, barely moves the char, and isn't an attack; it's pttobably the most useless action in the game and should be removed/replaced if toey don't buff it somehow; you'd have a better chance of avoiding an attack with the fail animation(too bad F9 is so far from the WASD cluster). The only thing worse for tanking than Fio is a SpearLann. As for sword lanns timing slipdashh while cornered, it should still be possible after you're familiar with the boss, and there might be a fix for the viewing angle bug in corners someday.

No they aren't, because only Fiona (and
maybe Karok) can tank all day long. The rest either can't tank at all or can only tank for a very limited time, or not against tough movesets.
When evie's amber breaks, she can make another one as fast as you can doubletap space again.
No she can't :l For one thing, there's an amber exiting animation in which you cannot do anything if your amber timer runs out,
and if your amber breaks you not only fall back and take damage if it's multiple hits but also there's recovery frames for that as well. Not only that, your amber can (and often will) go flying!
When Fio's shield breaks, she needs to spend like 2 seconds(in the middle of a fight, that's a LOOOOOOOOOONG time) if she uses the SP skill, and way longer without it.
Campfires honestly solve this problem.

Who cares, if she can block and stop all damage? I'd like like to add that ambers don't count as a "hit" when hit, so one hit can strike the amber multiple times, whereas Fiona will only need one block to end it. Also, guards cannot be "broken", nor do they push you around the map or have deadly recovery frames that stop you from blocking.
I get the feeling you're going to ask me to prove the recovery frame thing. I might have to pull out that camcorder <.<

All other chars except maybe spearLann can survive/avoid attacks all day long as long as the player knows what they're doing, isn't lagging too hard, and keeps an eye on the stam bar.
The amber exiting animation is negligible if you're on the ground, and if you're in the air you're probably halfway across the room anyway.
Campfires honestly aren't a real solution to the problem. They take time to set up, they're not always an option, and it doesn't make the shield completely indestructible. I have had my shield break with the camp buff on while all skills were maxed and shield dura was around 90.
About the one hit striking amber multiple times thing: hardly any bosses have attacks with high enough dmg, low enough knockback force, and long enough travel time/distance for that to matter, and there way more multiple hit attacks that would effect Fio's guard the same way. And I care about Fiona's dodge being useless because I don't want a useless move wasting the good WASD control options.
As for the camcorder thing, please don't. vidios of a screen taken with camcorders always come out as eyesores. There are plenty of free screen recorders out there, and there's even one built in to the game.
