I dunno, Fiona is pretty heavily armored. If she wears a helmet it's sometimes hard to immediately tell if she's a Lann or not just by glancing at her without checking for a shield or something.
Evie is adorable. Her clothes aren't trashy at all. They're actually pretty fashionable~ And everyone knows cloth has magical properties.
Evie can get away with it since she has those mana shields since they serve as armor.

Evie has mana shields. Her armor is not what protects her, so that's a bad example. Fiona has quite a few covering outfits, though some of them are a bit ridiculous (raiders).
Sex sells, though.

I like my Valkyrie maidens. Girls clad in silver armour, I think it looks elegant. Vindi armours are just slutty though, there's some cool ones here and there but they need to cover more. Girls in armor is not about showing skin, it's about the elegance.
As for the mages wearing clothes, RPG rules indicate that mages need freedom of mobility to execute signs and chants, leather armour is too tight and plate is just out of the question. Some settings allow for some chainmail, but nothing more. Mages looking for protection should be able to cast magic wards (Mana shield in evie's case), but these usually come at a cost of a penalty in damage or constant drain of their MP. And of course, there's those who disregard protection entirely on the premise that more Attack Power means no mobs get near you, the famous paper mage builds.

You don't need armor in the kitchen.

I beg to differ.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that armor. It's not that it bothers me, I just think it looks kinda bland and uninteresting. Shining Will is the only one out of those that I find appealing, and only if it's dyed all the same color, preferably something bright like white or gold.
