Basic magic trick. Generally, the magician has an audience member cut and take a single card from a deck, and then put it back in after remembering what it was. The magician then has the person shuffle the deck, take it back to do some hocus pocus, a little chant, [s]a great deal of slight of hand[/s] and then pull the person's card from the top of the deck.
