This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

One's the same as the other to me. Difference is that I'd rather talk to an actual community and not have to endure a homepage saturated with ads. Hence why I'm here, not back on Guru.

Clicking the banner to return to the forums is much more convenient. I got too used to it already.

Quote from Pikablu;4110:
All I know is, despite Itchy's reasons and everyone else's views of the situation, I'm remaining completely neutral.
I think it's wrong to just pelt the site we used to call ours, but I also think it's wrong that he left us behind and expected to make some money out of it (even though I must respect, it's strictly business).
I can actually think of more reasons for me to stick up for Itchy, but I prefer not getting bagged by either sides o3o;
I will have to say I am exactly the same thing Pikeblu said, so I'm going neutral as well.
But I will have to admit the pop-ups from MabiGuru is really annoying.

Hehe what pop ups? I never got any...
Right now there are still more people browsing mabinogi guru forums rather than here though. I don't think the move can be executed completely.

Most are guests though, and a large portion of the logged in users are registered over here, and are probably just lurking over there looking for people to bring here, causing itchy trouble, or curious of what's happening. As far as genuine activity is concerned we're beating guru into the ground.

So are we moving because Itchy doesn't care anymore?
He's back however O_o. does that mean he cares now?

It's because despite months and months of us needing his help, he never showed up. He sat back and collected money - roughly $600 a month from our calculations - while the rest of staff did all of the work for him. We don't like being used, and without our main admin there was a LOT we couldn't do, so we left.

So you guys tried to contact him and he never responded or showed up?
i noticed he's asking for donations to keep the server running , supposedly. if the site profitable why is there the need for donations?

Because he wants money, probably.
Itchy had been gone from Guru longer than I've played Mabi. I doubt he cares at all about the site.

More money?
I'm hosting this for about 10$ a month, while the database is not as large as guru (all that needs is disk space, and I have plenty), we've got to about 120 concurrent users on at one time with no effect on server load. If he's getting even a generously low estimate of 100$ a month from guru, he's still profiting.

I've heard that this site has no ads. How do you expect to stay afloat with no ad revenue?

If I can afford 21 characters, 15 pets and weekly rebirth on my main for mabi, and I quit mabi, I can afford to keep this site up Dx

From people just coming you get money I think.
